Dr. Jessica Cooksey, MD

My experience with Dr. Cooksey was not good. I had initially did the whole sleep therapy experience on my own to see why I had insomnia. After doing this sleep therapy she wanted to see me in six months. I did not feel the sleep therapy went well. I told her that on my next visit and she still insisted that I continue with sleep therapy again even though it didn't work for me. I still feel awful. She's horrible. Nothing like wasting your time with someone who doesn't listen to you.

After my home sleep study diagnosis of mild obstructive sleep apnea it felt like I was on my own as my primary provider wasn’t very helpful, so I had to figure out who in NM could help me. I discovered Dr. Cooksey at the NM.org site and I felt lucky to get in quickly when I got a cancelled appointment the same day I called. Dr. Cooksey was completely understanding of my reasoning for seeing her and seeking her opinion on options for treating my mild OSA. I learned a lot from her about this condition and it was agreed that oral therapy would be appropriate vs BiPAP. I received a referral for follow-up at a dental sleep center and was seen there by some awesome people within a few days. Dr. Cooksey’s office also assisted me in the additional f/u referral for R/o Nickel allergy testing as part of the process of the oral appliance fabrication. Everyone in her office was helpful, friendly and kind. I felt that I was treated quickly and expertly. I’m very grateful that I found her!

Zero humanity. Her only goal was to make me purchase something through her office, not actually fix my issues. She wanted me to pay $4k for a mouth guard. Is she totally ignorant that there are devices available on Amazon for as little as $20? Why would she withhold that info from someone she's supposed to "care" for when having that conversation about insurance being out of network.
