I met with Dr. Jeffrey B. Starling at his office for the first time (located 5332 Primrose Lake Cir, Tampa, FL 33647) due to a referral, on 3/18/24. I was recommended for possible urinary related issues, after speaking with the doctor which was a normal experience he said his office will fax an order to a near by hospital to get a renal biopsy and that I should see a nephrologist . He came to this conclusion partly due to my strong family history with kidney disease and diabetes. A couple days later I call the hospital to confirm they received the fax as I would like to get the procedure sorted at their earliest convenience because my schedule is picking up and I will be too busy soon. They say they received the fax but it was missing basic information: the order didn’t have the last consultation notes, a demographic page, my full name, and DOB. The Advent New Tampa Hospital let me know this is normal occurrence with his office and that the office manager Carla is his wife. I call Dr. Starlings office back, the person I spoke to (Jaden, not sure of spelling) says they faxed it, and will do it again. This was 3/20/24 I believe. It was 3/22/24 I think when they faxed to the hospital again. But the hospital let me know that it was still missing basic info needed. They let me know this is normal for Dr. Starlings office and that they have constant terrible experiences with his staff and himself. At this point I’m calling both places back, I’m a liaison to confirm my information and order for a renal biopsy is being handled properly. It’s not. The doctors office never has a straight answer for me. I work in healthcare, a co-worker offered to call on my behalf in hopes of them connecting her to an office manager. Because the office manager never called me back. We figured maybe a different number would work. Instead of connecting to a manger, Jaden (one of the receptionists, so is Rosa) violated HIPAA and told my co-worker what I was getting done, and gave her additional information I didn’t know about in regards to why I was experiencing so much trouble with my order being taken care of. My team at work had an idea of what was going on, because they knew my potential procedure would take time away from work. But she still shouldn’t have shared that. At this point, it was over a week long delay with getting my order to the hospital. At this point I’ve been given the run around, and have been given extreme attitude. I was fed up and gave them an attitude back to please just fax my order so that I can move on the next step. I asked to pick up the order on my own after work, they said no because no one will answer the door for me. Today I stopped by to pick up the documents I requested, and told them yesterday I would come this morning(3/27/24). Carla, Jaden, and Rosa looked confused and were rude to me when I showed up. Carla called me back to their break room to speak with Dr. Starling. He essentially called me to their break room to accuse me of berating his staff and shaming me for allowing someone to call on my behalf. I told him not to spin this back on me because I had no idea how to handle his rude office staff, this was a new unpleasant experience for me. He told me to be quiet so he could keep talking, I asked if he was even fulfilling my order at this point. He said no, so I began to walk out. He followed me out, kept yelling at me, and said don’t come back. I was scared because he was awfully close to me while following me, I was not violent and my qualms with his staff and him were justified. Many other reviewers on his google page have expressed similar frustrations. I would have just preferred if the nurse told me he didn’t want to service me anymore rather than just invite me back to be mean to me.

I have known Dr. Starlings since 2008. He has always been a pleasure to visit and a very smart diagnostician. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer, 2020. I did the traditional BCG chemo treatment. It did not work. The cancer came back. Dr. Starlings suggested I speak to Moffitt Cancer Center. The Bladder Oncologist suggested that I have my bladder and prostate taken out. This would require a urine bag. I told Dr Starling about my visit. He felt that we should try another stronger chemo treatment. When I spoke to Moffitt, they felt that the chemo Dre. Starting suggested has a 15% chance of walking. My adult son, who was in a conference call, said we will take the chance. The drug was strong but when we did the Cystoscope, the cancer was gone but my bladder walls were inflamed due to the chemo. I was up every 1/2 hour to go to the bathroom. Dr. Starling, suggested going to Advent Wound Care. After taking 50 treatments in a Hyperbaric oxygen chamber, the sores were gone and I am continent and have been cancer free for one year. I can’t thank Dr. Starling enough for never giving up on me and his words of encouragement! As to the staff, they have done numerous treatments and cystoscopes on me. They have been wonderful. There are always areas of improvement, over the years, I have known them, I have rarely had issues with the staff. They get ahold of Dr. Starlings and they make time to bring me in. I owe my life to them. Need I say more. Robert Schneck

We stop going to Dr. Starling
My husband had a cystoscope in Dr. Starling's office, he has been seeing Dr. Starling for 13 years and has always been happy with him. His last visit with Dr. Starling was not so great.Dr. Starling had a new person that has only been there for 6 months, my husband noticed that when the person was to sterilize his area he did not do as good of a job as my husband has had in the past. This procedure was done on a Wed., Friday morning my husband woke up with a 102.8 fever and felt terrible he had the fever all day. Still sick with fever and not feeling very well we went to the ER. They admitted him, his white blood count cells were very high so they had to put him on antibiotics which caused CDiff. Long story short they had to run all kinds of tests to find out where the infection was coming from. Finally, after 4 days in the hospital, they found out he had a UTI infection which came from his procedure at Dr. Starling's office. This all started with an employee not doing his job.

Poor bedside manner!
I found the doctor arrogant and lacking any compassion or understanding of the patient's position. When I called to speak to his nurse after a test result, she was just as bad. Now the doctor has had my test results for going on two weeks and I haven't heard from his office at all. The test results showed significant issues. This is just bad business and I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone! I will be finding a new urologist.

Dr Sterling has treated me for over ten years. He is professional, caring, and thorough. His staff unfortunately is very poor. They don't respond to inquiries in timely fashion. They don't return calls. He really needs to address that.

Horrible, I arrived to a locked door, apparently the staff is on lunch till 1 when my appointment was scheduled. Once inside, appointment was not on the books. Because the appointment was not on the books they had not pulled medical records. After looking up my primary physicians number to give to the receptionist she asked me to "due my part" and try calling for the records myself. After a half hour wait I was brought to the back and asked to give a urine sample. I was there for something that had no relevance to a urine sample. When I enquired why this was necessary I was told they like to take samples and that it was required. . . "I had to". At this point I left the building. If my experience from the locked door to reception to an attempted urine sample is an reflection on this doctor or his practice I would avoid them at all costs.

Dr office has lot of rusty equipment when we were at his office late 2015- early 2016. That was shocking to us. We went back to have a CT Scan explained and Dr Starling explained that his findings were exactly as the CT Scan and not to worry but my husband could have a Cysto done by him under full anesthesia. We dealt with wrong code/billing and my husband passed away from bladder cancer. I would give zero stars if I could. Go elsewhere.

Kind, compassionate, and an incredible bedside manner. He takes the time to listen and answer all your questions. Dr. Starling sets the bar high, and all doctors I will ever see are compared to this man. Dr. Starling literally saved my life, repairing a botched surgery performed by another doctor. Doc Starling was there first thing in the morning EVERY SINGLE DAY of my 21 day stay in the hospital. I would travel from anywhere for his expertise. 10 stars on a 5 Star scale.
