As soon as Dr. Recknagel could do surgery on my broken right humerus, I was called and scheduled. 20 weeks later I am scheduling knee replacements. I only want him to perform the surgeries.

Dr. Recknagel is treating me for a dislocated shoulder as well as fractures in my humerus. He really takes the time to understand not only the injury, but the patient and his/her concerns. He explains everything very well and isn’t pushing for meds as pain management or surgery right away. I appreciate that!

Dr Recknagel ordered my MRI because he believed me that my shoulder needed more than just exercise and injections. Immediately he saw that I had several problems within my shoulder. He immediately scheduled me for surgery. He explained the procedure very clearly and was kind, caring and considerate. Dr Recknagel and PA Josh Thurmun did a great job and I am on the road to recovery.

He performed a total shoulder replacement. I would highly recommend Dr. Recknagel to anyone seeking his services. His professional approach, caring attitude and concern for your well being is second to none. He is a straight up tell it like it is person, which I really like. He also has the ability to talk in layman terms to make it easy to understand. I could not have picked a better surgeon in my opinion for what I had done.

Dr. Recknagel performed surgery on both my shoulders, as well as my husband's. We highly recommend him, as he is caring, personable, the most competent surgeon, with great staff. Now that he has his own surgical unit as part of his office, the care is even better and more personal. The anesthesiologist listened to me and customized the anesthesia so I wouldn't have nausea after surgery.

He is an excellent surgeon, has an excellent team and seems to genuinely care for his patients!

There are many good reasons why I would highly recommend Dr. Recknagel at OAM in Muskegon as a surgeon for serious surgeries of his expertise. I had three surgeries performed by him: Total shoulder replacement in 2018, total shoulder replacement on other arm in 2021, and a combined trigger finger/carpal tunnel in January of 2022. I can tell you that he is attentive, caring, personable, professional and an extremely competent surgeon. You are in good hands with him as your doctor. He is easy to talk to and explains a procedure well.

From my check in to my discharge everything went smoothly. Every team member was efficient and friendly :Alyssa, Nicole, Grace and Dr. Dunn and Craig. I hope I didn’t leave any one out. Dr. Recknagel did an amazing job on my surgery. He met with my care giver while I was in recovery and met with me before I was discharged. This was my second surgery by Dr. Recknagel. He is an excellent surgeon and a kind and genuinely great person. I feel fortunate to have been able to have him perform my surgery.

Even though he seems busy he always takes the time to answer questions. Even the questions that have been asked before.

Dr. Recknagel did a thorough exam of my arm and xray showed bone spurs of my shoulder. At their surgical center, which is so much easier than a hospital, he was able to remove the bone spurs and fix a small tear. He did an awesome job and I highly recommend him.

All staff extremely attentive. The nurses are fantastic. Dr. Recknagel completely put me at ease, did his usual great job in surgery, and was very informative after surgery. I feel like I couldn’t have been in better hands.
