Dr. Jeffrey Latimer, MD

As a grad student at U.T. while Dr. Latimer ran the Sports Medicine section, I found him to excel in every respect. He not only took care of my physical health but also prescribed an add-on medication to my anti-depressant which radically improved its function. He obviously kept up on new health developments and was a keen listener and dynamic practitioner.

I saw Dr. Latimer in Urgent Care while I was at UT in December 2014. We didn’t know this at the time, but I was suffering from weight loss due to having hyperthyroidism caused by Graves‘ Disease. I was finally diagnosed in 2016 by a more competent doctor who did not accuse me of having an eating disorder, and actually put effort into figuring out what was wrong with me. I wonder if I had not been a young woman if he still would have been so quick to accuse me of having an eating disorder. All of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism were there.

I saw Dr. Latimer in Urgent Care at UT Austin for gastroenterological issues and weight loss. I'd seen a number of doctors about the issues before, but he was the first to ask me what was going on in my life and suggest that stress was, at the least, exacerbating my condition. The mind-vagus nerve connection is real! The steps I took toward mental-emotional health following that visit relieved my gastro/reflux/asthma symptoms tremendously.
