After my first surgery for Bile Duct cancer in another NY hospital, the oncologist gave me weeks to a couple of months to live. He recommended Sloan Kettering as a last resort. During the initial consultation with Dr. Drebin, he gave me hope. I was under no allusion that this is an aggressive cancer. After the Whipple surgery, Dr. Drebin stopped by my bed every day, whether it was 6 AM or 8 PM to check in on me. I found this to be reassuring. After discharge, my weekly meetings with Dr. Drebin, in person and remotely, gave me great encouragement during the lowest time in my life. Dr. Drebin is a kind, caring and sagely man from a human perspective. He prepared me for a grueling six months of chemotherapy and immune therapy treatment. I was blown away when my oncologist declared me “disease free.” Dr. Drebin, I owe you, my life. Thank you for giving me more time to be with my wife, kids and grandkids, and extended family.

Life Saver

Grateful patient!
Dr. Drebin and his team at MSK completed the very difficult Whipple surgery on 12/22/22 to remove a tiny but deadly tumor in the Ampulla of Vater. Unlike many Whipple warriors, I’ve had no surgical complications or unexpected issues. I credit this surgeon and MSK with saving my life and will be eternally grateful for the care I received and continue to receive.
