Dr. Jeffrey Cohen, MD

I believe Dr Cohen to be very knowledgeable in his field and well intentioned, however, a major influence in his approach is that he expresses a defiant philosophy that procedures are overprescribed in cardiology. I do not doubt that is a valid observation in general, however, it is dangerous when it dissuades him from appropriate action. I had an echo that indicated 'severe aortic stenosis' - and his response was to wait and observe. Six months later I had a major incident that required EMTs to be called. On my next office visit, he once again suggested waiting and observing. I requested a 2nd opinion and I was assigned to one of his colleagues. As the new doctor reviewed my chart and listened to my story - his jaw literally dropped. He immediately ordered a valve transplant which I had 6 weeks later. I issued a complaint against Dr Cohen to the practice head - and apparently a reprimand was issued - but that seems insufficient under the circumstances.

Nice manner, not over zealous, wise.
