Machine conveyor for patients
My visit to Dr.Carlson was like mashine conveyor. Looks like they want me leave room fast. Few questions give shot and go out. I wanted pain medicine it wasn't given. Also he give me 1 week off from work with severe pain. The staff didn't explain about documents for my work.

Doesn't Seem to Care
I had hip and leg pain that was getting progressively worse so I scheduled an appointment with Dr Carlson. I told them I had an MRI done about a year ago for another problem and he refused to see me until I got a copy of the images which takes 10 days. Obviously he didn't care that I was in pain and getting worse. I was able to get and appointment at HROSM the same day. They took xrays and diagnosed my issue as cartilage damage and bone spurs in my hip. No MRI needed. I got a cortisone shot and I should be good to go for a year. If I had waited on Dr. Carlson I would have been limping around in pain for a week and half for no reason.

Two ACDFs with excellent results. C4-C7 & C7-T1. In doing my due diligence, all the Physicians/Surgeons with whom I spoke gave glowing recommendations for Dr. Carlson's skills. Thus, I felt assured in choosing him as my surgeon. All of my surgeries were smooth. I never entered into my surgeries with an expectation of returning to a 100% normal functioning, compared with the baseline prior to the onset of my symptoms. However, my pain and mobility are outstanding (granted, everyone's mileage will differ). I have no issues with my daily exercise and life activities. What I like most about Dr. Carlson is that he listens and takes the time to address all my concerns, even if they are questions of curiosity, and he always makes sure all modalities that support my recovery and health are implemented. He even takes the time to have a normal conversation with me. He's real and has a good sense of humor as well. I am happy and grateful to have him as my surgeon.

He did a cervical spine fusion which was successful except my spinal cord was damaged somehow resulting in a number of neurological deficits that I didn’t have before surgery. Dr. Carlson didn’t take my concerns seriously, was reluctant to order tests to find the cause of my problems and wasn’t upfront with me about test results after I insisted on having tests. He was dismissive and disrespectful as well. I had to go to another doctor to find out the truth.

My PCP sent me to Dr. Carlson after a MRI showed bulging discs in my neck and pt didn't help. I was experiencing severe muscle spasms and numbness on one side of my neck radiating down my arm. Dr. Carlson took xrays and glanced at my MRI and told me nothing was wrong with me I just needed to lose weight. Got a second opinion turns out I have bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, slight spinal stenosis, pinched nerves, and arthritis.

I was his first pt. Of the day. I waited - 1 1/2 hours. Told his nurse I had to leave to go to work. He comes walking in with his Starbucks and was offended that I was leaving. Pompous!!!! The nurse was apologetic and embarrassed.

Dr. Carlson is an excited spinal surgeon. I saw him today for my post-op Posterior Cervical Fusion (C3/4) 10 weeks out and doing great. This is my 2nd cervical fusion and prior to this had lumbar surgery. Dr. Carlson does listen to you and comes up with the best treatment plan.

Charming, until you realize he's not actually listening &brushes you off on the way to his next patient. My discectomy/fusion never fused, prob because he didn't tell me to avoid anti-inflamms. He NEVER TOLD ME I didn't fuse and didn't give me any limitations/do "whatever I want" so I trained for triathlons and hardcore obstacle races as usual. (I think he didn't believe me when I said how much I worked out.) Told me I was having a "muscle issue" when I had actually had broken a screw in my neck!

Wait time: 90 minutes. Dr Carlson came into the room, seemed congenial, listened to my concerns about how my constant back/neck pain had made it impossible to be active and do the things I love. I told him I was becoming very depressed due to my physical limitations. His recommendation? Exercise and lose weight. I'd love to exercise and lose weight but there is this tiny problem of crippling pain, muscle spasms and limited mobility due to degenerative disc disease. Depressing visit!

I have been seen by McFarland, Sureja and Carlson at Orthopedic and Spine Center off and on since 2013. I have enjoyed their facility, staff, and most of all, each of them. Dr. Carlson performed a multilevel lumbar fusion on me 12/2017 and while it is a fresh procedure I can say I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to handle my procedure. Great guy. Knowledgable. I'd refer any of my family and friedns to him and his business. Thanks again

I was scared when I was referred to a surgeon, I admit. Dr Carlson prescribed Supartz shots for my knee. His nurse, Tonia, realized I was skittish and was very patient with me. I’ve since had a knee replacement. The incision was straight and healed perfectly! I tried the OSC Physical Therapy and loved them! I need another knee replacement and will ONLY go to Dr Carlson. I highly recommend him.

I am so pleased with the success of my lumbar spine fusion. I had "drop foot", which is a scary scenario for a 75 year old. I am so thankful that I chose Dr. Jeffrey Carlson for my surgery. He and his professional staff met every need for my comfort. I was so pleased and amazed with my complete healing. In my opinion, everyone deserves the best care they can receive during any procedure and Dr. Carlson and his staff at Orthopedic Spine Center is absolutely my recommendation.

I had spent a year and a half trying to find out the problem with my arm pain and the numbness. After seeing a few different dr my general physician recommended ,I found out I had a building disc and went to see a neurologist . I did not feel that comfortable with his explanation of my problem and the process so I put off surgery . Waited about 6 months in pain until a random person told me about Dr Carlson. From first visit felt at ease and he explained everything I needed to feel comfortable.

Came in for extreme lower back pain, had previous MRI done AND xray, but he wanted an xray done at his location. Came back saying all I had was tendentious. This man is supposed to be a specialist... how is that I go to my family dr and the tell me I have a spine issue and this man simply gives me a cortisone injection and sends me on my way? Well its been a few years and my back starts hurting again, more than last time and now I have numbness in my leg..possible permanent nerve damage! DONT GO

1st I met with Dr. Carlson who said I needed neck surgery. Both my wife and I explained that being a firefighter it is important that I recover to 100 percent. He assured me that I would and that I would be back to normal in approx. 10 days. I was going to have the surgery until they were registering me. This is where I got the truth. It is a min. of 6 to 8 weeks to lift 20 lbs. Dr Carlson will look you straight in the eyes and lie to you. He is a deceitful person with no character.

I believe Dr Carlson is God sent. I was practically paralyzed and had to have immediate surgery. My fear grew as I was about to go into the operating room, Dr Carlson explained everything clearly and accurately. I asked him" Dr Carlson, I can I trust you with my life? He said, yes you can" and so I was knocked out with anesthesia and faith in my heart. I can genuinely say Dr Carlson did a great job. I have my mobility and that's what I'm thankful for!
