I would NEVER recommend Dr. Camp to my worst enemy
Being a clinician myself and in healthcare since 1986, I would never recommend Dr. Camp as a treatment provider. Despite his interpersonal communication weaknesses, I believe he is very competent in many areas of ophthalmology, but his motivations to complete care, to dot the I's and cross the T's is greatly lack, as is his ethical obligation to be fully responsible to disclose and communicate all aspects of treatment including fees UP FRONT ("I don't talk about fees, I don't want to talk about fees, please talk to my front desk..."). This is actually an ethical failure, and leaves Dr. Camp vulnerable to much risk. I presented just over a year ago while visiting the area with a common issue to the area: irritated, painful dry, red eyes. He diagnosed and recommended non-insurance reimbursed laser treatment, and I prepaid for treatment that did not impact my situation at all. He then suggested my problem is clogging of oil ducts, and he (as it so conveniently happened) he had a "speciali

Great experience
Easy to schedule. Competent efficient front desk staff. Nice environs. Assistant Jenna was excellent. Dr. Camp took the time to make sure I understood what I needed to. State of the art equipment that far surpasses other offices I've been in. Even decided to order new glasses there as associated staff also very proficient.

I left this visit mid-exam as there were multiple unacceptable problems. The exam room was dirty, the sink filthy and right water faucet unusable due the the computer screen blocking it. Dust on equipment, surfaces, debris and dust bunnies on the floor. Dr Camp did not wash his hands or use gloves when he examined me, touching my face and lower eyelids while administering eye drops, which is unacceptable in medical practice. He was vague, disorganized, and a poor communicator. His bedside manner is not good. He told me I “might” be able to drive after being dilated, this is something I should have been informed of when I made the appointment so I could make plans for a ride home in case I couldn’t drive myself. After dilating my eyes, he said he’d be back in 15-20 minutes, but an hour and a half passed (without any communication from him or staff) before I decided I had no confidence in him and his care, so I left. I will be filing a complaint with the state.

He's more into Dermatoly stuff than eyes, left for lunch before he finished my entire visit, and has no operating privileges at Tahoe Forest Hospital. The staff was more into the cosmetic stuff. I need eye surgery and he's not doing it.

I was able to get an appointment scheduled right away. They offered me a generous discount since I don't have insurance. Dr. Camp's assistant went through all the images of my retina, eye pressure, and basic vision test. Dr. Camp then came in was very thorough in answering my questions, then did a complete eye exam and was able to correct my vision to 20/20. They have a great selection of eyewear and I was able to get a very light durable frame with top quality lenses, as well as Oakley sunglasses with custom corrective lenses, and even some corrective inserts for my ski, and motocross goggles. Of course without insurance I received 20% off my first pair, 40% off my Oakley's and the inserts were over 50% off all with warranty for 2 years for any kind of problem including scratches. Dr. Camp and his assistant's are very friendly and pleasant to deal with and there willingness to do what you need or get you what you want is just awesome.

Horrible experience. Dr. Camp and his staff are terrible. I went in with double vision. He ordered an MRI (which cost me $2K out of pocket). Took over a week to get him to call with results. He said nothing was wrong. He suggested it could go away in 6-8 weeks. And if not? It could be 6-9 months. What should I do in the interim? Nothing. So essentially he gave no medical advice. And I still have double vision. His staff doesn't seem to have any idea what is going on with anything.

Dr. Camp is an accomplished and concerned professional with a skill set that most doctors would envy. I give him five stars across the board in every category. He saved my eye ten years ago. Since that time he has performed two operations on my eye's with excellent results. He's a bit shy but has a great sense of humor once you get to know him. He's overworked and has a hard time saying no primarily because of his popularity in the community. I highly recommend Dr. Camp.

Dr. Camp is a very talented doctor with exceptional knowledge of the eye. After seeing several docs in Reno and North Lake I went to Dr. Camp and he bumps and irritation with my eyes is gone! No more chronic itchiness and pain - I see clearly and for the first time in a long time, I am comfortable! THANK YOU! I also didn't have any issues with his office staff as some said - I think he must have worked through his staff challenges because I got in easily and only waited about 10 minutes.

Avoid anything that isn't DIRECTLY related to eyes. He tries to sell you on his lasers & it's a big scam. He is unqualified in using them. I went to him for a laser & it was the biggest regret of my life.

Office staff doesn't know what's going on with their patients. They charged me for something that wasn't performed. I had to wait for my yearly eye exam for over 90 min and saw the dr. for 5 min. Make the drive to Reno and see someone there, save yourself frustration at Dr. Camps. I have been in Truckee over 25 years and always say I will never go back and do because of no eye dr choices here. But this last time was it. Never again will I go there.
