Absolutely dismissive and degrading
She completely dismissed everything I confided in her about. I told her my new birth control was making me feel like I'm not myself, and that I was having a really hard time on it. She told me that the seasons are changing and to do some soul searching if I don't feel like myself, which felt extremely disappointing. She said that sometimes people break up with their boyfriends and feel sad, but that has nothing to do with the birth control. I don't know why she said that because nothing had happened in my relationships at home or at work to make me upset, but the fact that she was trying to blame me for the way my birth control was making me feel was horribly defeating. She then denied my birth control after having an entire appointment just about birth control a few months prior because I had not had my women's wellness yet, even though we just talked about it. Her staff did not help me, and I am left without birth control until I can see a new doctor because I refuse to go back there

Office
I have made two appointments only to have the office cancel at the last minute. I took off from work both times. I understand being called away for a delivery but this has happened twice and they made no accomodations to set a later appointment so I wouldn't have to take off work again. I was told not with a new patient and rushed off the phone

~I had toxemia in my 3rd tri & was blown off bc I was young and healthy. When I got to the hospital in labor I was accused of not going to my OB appts due to my condition. I had seen Dr. less than 24hrs beforehand & complained of pain in my ribs for the umpteenth time but was told I was fine. The staff stopped discussing it with me at that point & would not respond to Qs. I had full placenta abrumption. A substantial chunk of placenta was left behind which caused severe blood loss at 7days postpartum. ~Dr. stripped my membrane at an appt while checking how dilated I was. She did this without warning me, asking me, or even letting me know after the fact. ~Dr. dug tested me at my initial appointment without my knowledge. I don't do drugs and the test came back clean. I am still angered by this behavior regardless. ~Both the last points were incredibly violating and an infringement on trust and bodily autonomy

I was supposed to have surgery with Dr. Joyce. All interactions prior to the surgery with Dr. Joyce were very positive. I can see why people like her. However, prior to surgery that's goal was to find out what had caused me to have peritonitis (which could have been caused by either something gastrointestinal or OBGYN (now I think it was the former), I wrote down directives to ensure it was understood that unless a life-threatening situation occurred, I did not want to wake up from surgery to a hysterectomy because I really wanted to have children. Anyway, she was so insulted by me writing down my concerns, that she dumped me as a patient immediately which delayed my treatment for significant health issues by months. I had no idea that she would react like that. It was a very distressing situation all around.

I love Dr Joyce. She is personable, attentive, takes time to explain things and is a great person. She has been my Dr through both pregnancies and has been amazing. I recommend her to everyone!
