my mother had fluid in the belly and had a ct scan that showed possible liver mass. she was referred to dr piscatelli. I brought the actual ct films for him to review, as I was always taught that in my field of medicine....(especially a specialist) he refused to look at the films and told us she had liver cancer and he did not want her biopsied because she was going to die. I got a second opionion , as my mother was very active and still full of life. The second opinion said "well of course get a biopsy for a diagnosis, why not?" an oncologist who looked at the films said "hmmm, that might not be a liver cancer, it may be a group of lymph nodes stuck up under the liver, maybe a lymphoma and may be very treatble but she needs a biopsy. Biospy showed lymphoma, (it was not a liver mass, it was lymph nodes and if lazy piscatelli had looked at the films i bought he would have seen this) she received chemo and lived another 8 years, during which we traveled and enjoyed her time with family and grandchildren. thanks for nothing, piscatelli! your flippant attitude and laziness about not reviewing the films or considering a biopsy in an active senior citizen almost cost my mother her life! thank god there are better providers out there. I would not trust piscatelli with a farm animal. stay away, he is a lousy clinician. and by the way, this was 15 years ago and I'm still angry at his poor care of my mother. i don't know why i didn't submit this review earlier. I hope that he reads it and recalls the 80 year old with a daughter with whom he refused to view the films and gave us 5 minutes of time to tell us that she was terminal. (she was not)

Rushed preconceived notions
Dr Piscatelli’s opening comment was that I looked too healthy to be having medical problems. I hoped that this would not reduce his efforts in helping me with my GI pain. It seems I was wrong. After a few minutes for questions/examination he headed for the door (no ID of potential causes, immediate pain relief actions, or diagnosis plan). He had some words with the person at the desk and left. The person at the desk informed me of the prescribed imaging.

Receptionist took a brief history of my problem. Then had to get back to me after Dr. Piscatelli reviewed it to determine if he would see me ( 1st red flag). When they did call back to schedule, it was over a month. The visit was short and Dr. Piscatelli was dismissive, cut me off when I spoke and never took a full history. Was in the office for maybe 5 minutes (2nd red flag). Needless to say, I was scheduled for a EGD and colonoscopy 2 months away! I was assured at the time of scheduling that I would be completely knocked out and I confirmed this a month before the procedure. I followed prep protocol before the testing. The day of the procedure, I went to the surgery center. Had a very uneasy feeling.(3rd red flag) Receptionist had no clue what he was doing (4th red flag) the nurse couldn’t get the IV in and had to call in someone else and I have good veins (5th red flag). Then was told just sedation with some discomfort! I left without procure being done. FIND ANOTHER DR.

Dr. Piscitelli was dismissive and didn't even listen to the answers I provided to the few questions he asked. He spent 10 minutes with me as a new patient, told me I didn't have anything wrong with me, but still made sure I scheduled two procedures with him. He then provided a long letter to my primary full of information that was incorrect and answers to questions he never even asked, indicating results of evaluations he did not even do. The poorest medical history I have ever seen. Definitely going to cancel the procedures that I scheduled with him. If he can't even take a history, I certainly don't trust him to do a procedure.

I was very disappointed in trying to make a appointment for my elderly Mom, who had been seen in the emergency room and advised to see a GI specialist. When calling on Monday morning, I was advised that the doctor only reviewed new patient paperwork on Tuesdays and Thursdays and they may not get back to me until Friday. When they called back on Tuesday the office staff said he would not be taking my Mom as a patient and to contact her PC for a different doctor referral. Cant help but think my Moms elderly age may have played a role in this decision. I don't understand why a doctor wouldn't agree to see anyone who needed help. Although we didn't actually meet Dr. Piscatelli, I couldn't in good conscious recommend a doctor who picks and chooses his patients. Again my Mom was not accepted as a new patient so she did not see Dr. Piscatelli.
