Dr. Lin is extremely thorough. After the detailed examination of my complicated issues, he explained his findings very clearly. He is very patient and courteous. I am very impressed with him and all the staff at the Island Eye Care in Port Townsend, and highly recommend him and their services.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!
My visits in the past were satisfactory. The most recent on 11-6-24, was an example of both extremely poor care and a sense of rushing patients through. I felt I was on an assembly line: no diopter, peripheral vision nor color-blind checks. When given dilation eye drops, I questioned why the drops were different from those used in the past. The tech, was not wearing gloves. That initial check was rushed. Then Dr. Lin saw me for less than 10 minutes, seemingly irritated with my questions. I wear prism lenses and had two eye surgeries years ago. I do not feel that I had a thorough exam. Within 2 hours, both eyes became swollen and very RED. A case of raging conjunctivitis, caused by either contaminated instruments or a severe allergic reaction. After multiple calls, and being put-off, as techs were unwilling to bother Dr. Lin, saying 'he is busy in clinic' he eventually prescribed eye drops, providing some relief. My eyes are still red and irritated after 4 weeks. NEVER AGAIN!

My first visit was also my last. In my 70's, it was by far the lifetime-worst experience I've had as a patient. Dr Lin is a competent technician but his ability to relate to patients is marginal. The practice is set up to make money more than to provide good care. They run you through a workup for optometry presuming they will sell you corrective lenses even if you made the appointment for something else. So you get the whole workup twice, once for each department. I was seeking care for multiple eye health issues including both corneal and retinal. They had already shown me a video selling correction for cataracts when Lin walked into the room 60 minutes after I arrived on time. He just redid the workup assuming I was there for cataracts. My real concern is about retinopathy but he didn't ask me why I came in until I stopped his momentum. Then he got angry and verbally abusive. His horrid manner ruined the relationship. You can't trust him. Don't go there!

Mixed experience. Dr. Lin can be very pleasant, but a bit arrogant it seems. Some recommendations were fine, others just plain bad. Ended up getting a 2nd opinion and got much different results that were accurate and resolved vision problem. Had I used Dr. Lin's prescription I would have spent lots of money and continued to have issues. In addition, the 2nd opinion cost less. In my opinion Dr. Lin needs to learn to really listen and empathize -- work on real problem solution.
