Poor Emergency Room treatment
I was admitted in Virtua Voorhees ER two and a half days ago for a basketball injury sustained the same morning. Dr. Do performed the initial exam and indicated that sutures were required to close a wound under my chin. I was provided lidocaine ointment in preparation of the procedure. Another individual, which I expected to be an experienced doctor came later and added the sutures. Dr. Do checked the work afterwards and released me. I noticed the poor stitching only after I was home. The cut required more than the 3 stitches provided. One side of the wound was not fully closed. A Penn ER nurse agreed. I found out that Devin Hoover, DO, a 2nd year resident, did the stitching. I would have waited for another experienced professional, including the on-shift plastic surgeon to treat my wound if I knew the outcome would be shoddy. Should I return to Virtua ER and have liquid cement or steri strips added at this point? Terrible work and terrible delegation by the attending ER physician.
