Dr. James Heywood, MD

After spending a grand total of 8 minutes in-visit, and bullying with shame, anger & guilt-tripping family members, put a vulnerable patient with diagnosed pneumonia and a chronic history of hypotension on a medication that is well-known to cause even lower blood pressure and weakness. He REFUSED to allow any input (or even admission into the office!) from caretaking staff, who work with the patient day-in and day-out and know the patient's complete history and trends. This patient was admitted into the hospital for a multi-night stay, mere hours after taking the medication -- due to, guess what? hypotension! and complications. High likelihood of mortality, as the patient is still in the hospital. This doctor is one of the worst we have ever, ever seen. He should honestly retire, as he does nothing to heal and in fact makes a hard medical situation worse for all involved. He should also ask himself why he feels the need to exert power and importance on ill patients and their families.

Dr. read my history, conducted an exam and made a tentative diagnosis. He explained the illness and made me believe that he would take great care of me. He spent a lot of time and never acted rushed. I was confident in his knowledge and his care.

Chemo caused Class C heart failure. On my first visit with Dr. Heywood, he told me, “I won’t let you die.” Coordinating with my cancer team, Dr. Heywood developed a treatment plan that allowed me to successfully complete chemo and radiation. That was 15 years ago. Since then, he has continued to manage my CHF despite a stroke, sepsis and life. He’s my hero!

2 things are making me look and go else ware: 1. Have to get a MRI stupid staff says you wont have to wait until April we can get you in earlier. Ok bull had to call myself and schedule it for April 1st lie 2. Have to refill meds because they 14 day supply instead of 30 like all the rest of my meds. Now having the pharmacy bug them because called there office and of course did nothing this is serious to me and that is why I WILL NEVER GO NEAR THIS CLOWN AGAIN

Dr. Heywood is treating me for pulmonary hypertension. He jumped right on this and got me on meds early in the disease before it had a chance to advance. He knows exactly what to do and i am so thankful everyday that there is hope for me with this disease. He’s always very optimistic and tells me he has many treatments for me, not to worry. God bless him! He is the very best. I highly recommend Dr. Heywood, the doctors that work with him, and his wonderful staff!

Dr. Heywood is an amazing doctor. Without his care I wouldn’t be here today. After being told I needed heart transplant at Palomar medical center, I had to get a second option.
