Dr. James Harkins Jr, MD

After my eye surgery to remove Cartas and Lasik eye surgery, I could not see very well and Dr. Harkin's was rude and said that I was being stubborn and that is reason I couldn't read the letters. That was a year ago and still cannot read with out cheaters. He was very impatient with me and said it was all my fault that I could not read. Something happen during the left eye surgery that made my vision blurry and he said that was all in my head. He was rude to my daughter as well as to me. Treated me like I was a child and didn't know if I can see or not. I so wanted the surgery to work because I have worn glasses for 40 years. I do not recommend Dr. Harkin's at all. I will be going to a different eye surgeon to fix my Lasik surgery if possible. I was hoping that Dr. Harkins would have been more like Dr. Hersh whom I went to for 20+ years, I have taken my whole family to Waco Eye Associates for years but will not go back. The staff and nurses are wonderful, but will not go back

He asked me questions that I did not know how to answer. He was curt, impatient. He flipped the slides, and if I did not respond immediately, he was again curt, impatient. When you are looking at two blurry slides, it is not easy to choose. He repeated instructions several times, as if in were a child. I said that this wasn't working and told him his bedside manner needed some work. He said I could leave. He wrote that I was combative to his staff. Not true. I only had a problem with him.

Dr. Harkins is really one of the best doctors out there. My son had a scary and rare eye problem and he saw him very quickly and went out of his way to do extra research for us and explained everything to ease our minds. He did extra leg work to arrange a hospital stay and necessary tests for my son and I absolutely recommend him. He was definitely sent to us by God in our time of need last summer!
