I had a sudden onset of throat clearing that didn’t go away so Dr Garrett diagnosed silent acid reflux and put me on a strong dose of antacids for 1.5 years (the type that produces cancer.) I researched online my symptoms and found that sudden acid production is often due to a bacteria named E. Coli, so I asked the doctor for a test. He didn’t think I had it but ordered it anyway. Result; I did have it, and all it took to get rid of it and the acid reflux symptoms was a dose of antibiotics. So instead of sending me to the GI Dpt. to see why I had the acid, Dr Garrett had me take dangerous antacids foe 1.5 years. Also after the E. Coli was gone, I asked him to stop the antacids and he told me I had to reduce the dose gradually for a year! I asked the GI doctor to stop the antacids and she did it cold turkey. I had zero problems with that. Incidentally I had a precancerous tumor on my duodenum -could be because of the long unnecessary exposure to antacids? Worse doctor ever.

Be very careful when considering this Physician. We believe our mother would still be alive today if she had not trusted him to perform what he represented to be a "simple procedure'. Dr. Garnett failed to mention that a vocal cord procedure he performed could destroy her swallowing…which it did. She had to have a feeding tube placed in her stomach and subsequently died. We would not recommend him to anyone EVER. He was a cold , arrogant terrible communicator and physician.
