We consulted Dr. James Edwards during both of my wife's pregnancies. First Pregnancy: Dr. Edwards recommended an emergency cerclage due to my wife's thin cervix, despite prior positive results from progesterone treatment prescribed by another doctor. Trusting his judgment, we agreed to the procedure. Second Pregnancy: Without assessing my wife's cervical thickness, Dr. Edwards again insisted on a cerclage. We declined, feeling it was unnecessary without proper evaluation. Following this, he questioned my wife's understanding of English by asking if she needed an interpreter, which felt dismissive. He also stated that after 20 weeks, he wouldn't be able to assist us. After our refusal, he avoided face-to-face consultations, communicating through nurses and sonographers. Outcome: Despite declining the cerclage, our second pregnancy was successful without the procedure. Impact: These interactions left us feeling pressured, disrespected, and unsupported during a critical time. The lack of direct communication and questioning of language comprehension added to our stress and eroded our trust in his care. Conclusion: Our experiences with Dr. Edwards involved undue pressure for procedures, inadequate communication, and a perceived lack of respect. We hope he reflects on these interactions and strives to improve his patient engagement and respect for patient autonomy.

Dr. Edwards was part of my TAC team, but I am neutral about him as a medical professional. I didn't feel his involvement or bedside manner was particularly great.
