Dr. Baird diagnosed my breast cancer & led my treatment at Kelsey-Seybold. Based solely upon the ultrasound of my tumor & my lymph nodes, he recommended that I have reconstruction surgery at the same time he performed my mastectomy. He failed to warn me of the possibility of exactly what happened: he removed sentinel lymph where cancer cells were found 1 month later. Thanks to his failure, I had to receive radiation therapy of the reconstructed breast flesh, damaging it & wasting my money. I learned from my new physician that prudent breast cancer surgeons will not perform the 2 surgeries together but rather wait until after analysis of the sentinel lymph nodes BEFORE performing reconstruction. When I complained to the clinic, I was told this was his standard of care & that Dr. Baird claimed he had told me the risks. I hired Dr. Baird expecting him to truly be an experienced expert, not someone who evades responsibility by blaming the patient for lousy outcomes.
