Don't do it
Staff was friendly, but we went in for a referral to another dr. My spouse had a mental health episode, and we needed a referral for a psychologist. Dr. Allen's bedside manner was horrible, and despite my spouse being clearly triggered and extremely upset, he had my spouse walk him through his suicide attempt with absolutely no warning to either of us. I had to spend time in the parking lot talking him out of a panic attack.

Dr. Allen was very personable and understanding. When I came in for a follow up after a referral, he offered to refund my copay because he couldn't prescribe the medicine I needed. I've never had a medical professional offer that kind of courtesy.

Worst doctor I have ever seen. He was rude and yelled at me and my roommate for not coming in earlier. He accused me of being "another college kid" who doesn't know anything and accused me of having anxiety because I shook my foot once. He ignored serious symptoms and decided that I was sick because of allergies. Unwilling to listen to his patients and yells at you without reason. I would highly recommend Baylor Scott and White reconsider their decision to Have Dr. James Allen on staff.

My daughter and son have both had to see him at the Scott and white convenient care. Awful, mean, hateful are all ways to describe him. My daughter went in with ear infection in both ears. He asked her if she’d swimming and she answered no, not really at all. He replied with an attitude, “ what do you mean not really??” Terrible bedside manner!! Makes patient feel stupid and uncomfortabl. He seems to hate his job. My son went in with a bite ond he asked why we waited til the p.m. to bring him!

If giving zero stars was an option, I would give him zero stars. Worst doctor I have ever seen. I came in with poison ivy and a break out of molloscum contagiosum and without offering me a gown asked me to pull my pants down immediately to examine my infection. I was embarrassed and felt harassed. He treated me like an idiot and interrupted me several times while I was trying to explain the development of my infection. I cannot believe this man is still employed.

We saw Allen for a possible fractured hand on our 9 yo. Allen had terrible bedside manner terrifying our daughter to the point she stated he was a "scary man and she wanted to leave right away." After xrays it was determined that our daughter did have a fractured and dislocated thumb. Instead of splinting and wrapping the hand to send us to Ortho, we were referred to the ER to be seen by another Dr. Allen is not competent to handle even a splint, avoid this PA! Our experience was terrible!

My experience seems consistent with other reviews. So unprofessional (yawning during session), comments about me not taking any medicines, not explaining medicine I was given. I would avoid this doctor. .

Dr. James Charner Allen misdiagnosed me after brushing off my symptoms of extreme fatigue and an even worse sore throat as simply allergies, but offered to test me for strep throat, "if it really made me feel better." He did not seem to care for my well being, causing me to have to pay over $150 for his laziness, not to mention, I had to later see another doctor who quickly found I had mono after testing my blood and giving a visual inspection, two things Dr. Allen couldn't bother to do.

I went to the walking clinic and I was seen by Dr. James Allen, and it was a very bad experience. I had a severe head pain and it was totally irrelevant to him. He suggested to take Ibuprofen, without taking further examinations. He approach me with arrogance and rudeness. If I don't ask to be given something for the pain, he wouldn't have done so.

While the staff was phenomenal, Dr. Allen was not. His bedside manner was pitiful and he terrified my child to the point that she stated he was a mean doctor, he scared me. I am a nurse and have a PhD and he continuously insulted my decision to bring my child in, attempted to educate me on my own child's health and illness, and basically told me I was ignorant for bringing my child in. My time and money were wasted and all I left with was insults and anger.

He was rude and rough. I was in tremendous pain and had been waiting for over an hour. When he finally came in, only minutes from closing time he chastised me for not coming in earlier (I have a job and two kids to look after, sorry for having responsibilities, doc.). When I was on the table he hurt me so I flinched, he raised his voice telling me not to move. Within sixty seconds he was done and just sent me to the ER. To him, I was irrelevant Worst experience I have ever had. AVOID!
