Most unenthusiastic doctor in the state.
Every visit felt as if I was a bother. He did not want to listen closely and would constantly cut me off while discussing my issues.

I have seen Dr. Van Reissen for 20+ years. But now I am getting a new Dr. Nice man but He has worked himself into burnout. I have been having issues with more his staff. I asked for certain test to be run outside of their network but in UHC network as they were cheaper. Took 60 days to get the MRI ordered. Then the MA called and said there were no issues. Obviously, the report was not read. Not the first time I was told things were fine and the report said something else. Happened with another issue 4 years ago. The stress test took a week to get ordered and I had to call and pursue it. His MA is slow and does not like people pushing to get tests done. The other one is great.

Do not see this provider
I went to this provider when I was 13 years old - 26 years old. He and his team literally watched me grow up. I lost my medical insurance and had to go to Jordan Valley for 1 year to get the most affordable care I could. It was also the most horrible care experience I've ever had in the medical field up until I tried to come back to see Dr. Van Reissen October last year! Dr. Van Reissen refused to see me because I had gone to somewhere else for not even a whole year because I couldn't afford Cox Health and has completely blacklisted me now from that clinic. I can't see any of the providers in Chesterfield even though they haven't officially fired me from the clinic. Horrible provider. Horrible clinic manager Michelle.

Not Happy
Going to be switching from Dr. Van Riessen ASAP. Went into Urgent Care with abdominal pain. They found something unrelated on a CT scan that required an MRI with contrast. Followed up with Dr. VanRisen and he ordered an MRI. Got to the MRI and found out that he didn't order it with contrast. Get a call from his assistant weeks after the imaging and was told... 'Well we couldn't get a good look at it, so now we are going to have to do another one with contrast. Needless to say, I am pretty angry. Another 3k down the drain because of that mistake. If he overlooks that, what else will he overlook? Don't go to him!!!!

I met with him in 2021 and it honestly was a horrible experience, he was nice as he greeted me but, he made me explain why I needed such medication, It was hard to explain, But then he said he will prescribe my meds until I get health insurance, 6 months go by and through messaging he told me that I needed to see a psychiatrist and he would stop prescribing my meds. Such a worthless doctor, go to a doctor with tons of years of experience. They understand concerns way better and you can form a connection with them. With this doctor I could not!

Have seen him multiple times and each visit is a giant waste as he can't do anything without labs (understanble to a degree), but also, finds every lab inconclusive and needs further testing (ok maybe once...) and ALSO doesn't bother to call you and tell you the labs are unusable until you hound his office about it. AND is completely unsympathetic when you're weary of getting labs in the next visits. But doesn't bother to talk with you about it, just sends out a nurse to do his dirty work, a real coward move. Plus I've been waiting for the office to give me a copy of my medical records for over a year and they can't find them, cool.. And to top it all off, he dogs you for not coming in as often as he would like- I'm not an infant, I don't need monthly check ups, my guy.

Look, Doctor's are going to have some reviews that are less than stellar, some people like to complain about anything. What I will tell you is Dr. Van Riessen has been a very good Doctor for me. He has always showed actual concern and asked engaging questions while educating me in different topics of health. I would recommend him 100%

When I was 41 I told Dr. Van Riesen I had chest pains, a two generation history of fathers and grnadfathers with major heart events before 50 and he didn't want to get me a stress test. Said unnecessary so coded it such that it would cost me $10,000 to get one. Recently went to him with a variety of symptoms I could not explain and he said, "I'm used to seeing people really sick. What do you want me to do?" Within a month of that, in the hospital with MS. Never go to this doctor. Worthless
