I have never posted a review for anything before but this definitely warrants a warning to the public. My brother and his family have been going to him for a long time. Over the years he has provided sub-par medical care to my family but his recent medical negligence nearly killed my brother. Recently, my brother went to him concerned about chest pain and shortness of breath. He was told it was acid reflux and prescribed antacids. His many cardiac risk factors and family history of heart attacks were ignored. No referral to a cardiologist, no stress test, no echo.. Nothing. Today he had a massive heart attack which could easily have been prevented with proper medical care. Fortunately, he survived but will have a long recovery and permanent damage to his heart.

I have gone to this Dr for years and would usually give 3.5 stars but after a recent visit I now would give a zero if I could....I had just finished a 3 week antibiotic course after being on 3 other antibiotics and went to him after experiencing sudden onset of symptoms for a week straight that I feel are related to the long use of antibiotics.....instead of doing blood work for which I was told to fast for, he only questioned me. Dr. Burgess is very thorough and helped me manage my chronic pain. He is one of the few doctors I saw that gave me plenty of time to discuss a plan for treatment. He listens and obviously cares for your well being. If don't want to take a certain medication because it doesn't work for me, he doesn't question me for it and allows me to try something else or just stop that medication. He is open to ordering the tests or referring you to specialists you mention that might help. Go see him!
