I was horrified at the ageism he portrayed.
I have an elderly father with mild dementia, who still has some life in him. But Dr. Pour-Ghaz saw him in the hospital and recommended NO intervention when his heart rate began to go too low, just because of his age and the mild dementia. We told him my dad still has quite a bit of lucidity, but Dr. Pour-Ghaz recommended we just take him home and let him die (the natural order of things). We got a second opinion and had a pacemaker placed the next day by another doctor and my dad was livelier and more talkative than he has been in years. He is doing very well in his rehabilitation. We're glad we got the second opinion.
