I was recently referred to Dr. Gardner by my primary care physician regarding issues I've been having with my ankle and pain radiating up my leg to my knee and hip. He was presented to me as a sports medicine specialist. During the exam where Dr. Gardner pulled and pressed my foot in various positions and the subsequent ultrasound, he pronounced that the joints, tendons etc. related to the body parts I mentioned were separate entities and not connected. [That's like saying California, Arizona and Nevada are not connected because they are separate states! ] As a sport medicine specialist, he should have accounted for the influence of movement. Needless to say, he found nothing, ordered more tests and my pain continues. I decided to go back to my accupuncturists who is aware that the body is a whole and more than a sum of its parts.
