Dr. Ilias Caralopoulos, MD

Having spinal surgery can be a very unsettling event. Dr. Caralopoulos has a thorough and direct but reassuring manner which gave me the confidence I needed to proceed with the surgery. I am so glad that I had the surgery. It was extensive and it has given me complete relief from the increasing pain and disability I was experiencing. A physician’s staff is very important to a patient. His assistant, Tiffany, is wonderful; Courtney is a joy—in fact, his whole staff is great. I recommend him wholeheartedly and I’m thankful for his care and expertise.

Dr Caralopoulos was the third doctor I consulted about my problem. He is the first who actually examined me. He is thorough in explaining his approach to dealing with my problem and I have every confidence that he will give me the best care possible.

Of course was not excited about seeing a surgeon. However, he and his PA made me feel comfortable there. He listened to my problems and explained very well about condition. Guided me in the next steps which actually was very helpful. Is a very conservative physician which I appreciate.

Dr. Caralopoulos and staff provide outstanding service during the whole medical process. From the diagnosis to the surgery follow-up, the knowledge, expertise, and care were excellent. We were very pleased with the outcome.

My first visit was very nice. The NP's were very knowledgeable and professional. Second visit was when I saw Dr. Caralopoulos he read MRI and told my wife and I that this surgery needed to be done in the morning. We were shocked. Dr. was very concerned. He explained everything to myself and my wife. We are very thankful for Dr. Caralopoulos' Dr. Caralopoulos for my surgery. Dr.Caralopoulos trimmed disk that was pinching nerve in lower back.

I always was kept abreast of what would happen when I had surgery. I had my surgery done Sept. 30th and haven't felt this great in years. Now I can walk without pain, sit for extended periods without pain, and enjoy life again. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a neurosurgeon.

Dr. Caralopoulos worked on my neck had 3 herniated disc, fused C3 thru C7 vertebrae. Pain went away immediately.

Dr. C performed a 4-level fusion on my lower back. In a month I was able to start therapy and at 3 months my pain level is much less than before the surgery. Dr. C is a great Dr and has concern for my, and my families, needs and issues.

I had surgery on my back. It turned out wonderful. I was soooo happy. Dr Caralopoulos is a great surgeon. He was very informative prior to the surgery. I cannot thank him enough. He saved me from early retirement

Dr. Caralopoulous was very good to me. I lost my insurance while being treated for a pinched nerve in my neck. While waiting to get into a neurologist, I devolved to the point I became a surgical cantidate. He took me right in and the treatment was wonderful. Some of my symptoms were imediately relieved. The rest improved with physical therapy. I am still healing, but am doing much better thanks to his care.

Recently I wound up in the ED and required emergent anterior and posterior cervical fusions. Dr. Caralopoulos was the neurosurgeon covering new, emergent cases the Friday before Christmas- and I couldn't have been luckier! He is a technically excellent MD whose kindness, honesty and thoroughness matches his excellent medical expertise. Dr. Caralopoulos has been outstanding in performing surgery to repair my spinal issues including disc replacement and lamenectomy. My condition has been gradualIy degrading for many years because I was afraid of surgery. After consultation with Dr. Caralopoulos, he ended my fears. I am still considered in recovery process but as fas as i am concerned the surgery is a complete sucess.

After being evaluated by two previous surgeons and then seeing Dr. Caralopoulos there was no question in my mind who was going to perform my surgery. He answered all my questions, made me feel comfortable, and was never in a rush. The morning of my surgery he showed the same qualities again for my family. The surgery went just as he explained and I never needed any pain medicine. Without hesitation I would definitely recommend Dr. Caralopoulos for any type of spinal surgery.

After careful elevations comparing surgeons from Baton Rouge to New Orleans and doing all I can to make the best judgment on which one to pick. I’ve settled on Dr.C . In my case I was more concerned with the nerve than the bone. So I wanted someone well versed in that area. The Ochsner team was great to say the least. Dr. Caralopoulos first gave me a consultation, that was outstanding; which he demonstrated on screen, which I had not saw from previous Doctor. It was very, very well explained to me.
