Dr. Ikemefuna Onyekwelu, MD

I am one year post TLIF today! I am doing better than I have in years. Living life again! My back looks great. You cannot even see the scar or tell I had surgery unless you are looking up close.I have nothing but high praise for Dr. Onyekwelu, Alexandria Peterson PA, and the entire staff . I highly recommend this group, and do so every chance I can get. I will definitely come back for any future needs. The staff responded quickly and thoroughly with every question and communication that I had. I am not always easily impressed, but I was beyond satisfied with this group. High praise to Dr O!!!

This was my first time seeing Dr. O for myself. He's amazing and I was glad that Dr. Cayme sent me to him to see if he was going to have to do back surgery on me. He did my sisters back surgery and I think he's amazing. And I would recommend him in a minute. TYJ!!! ????????????

The title of course is a personal opinion ! Dr O and his staff were always so good to me in my 11 month journey after I broke my back. He did two needed surgeries to reconstruct my spine with hardware and his vast knowledge and experience in this field ! I will pray that God keeps his hands in proper working order for many years to come so that he may help all that need it to get back on their feet and walk into the next chapter of life !

Very knowledgeable about my injuries Dr. Onyekwelu came up with a plan to reduce my pain and what to expect if that didn’t work out.

I saw this physician as a new patient for a spinal deformity with a recent disc herniation. I selected him based the excellent reviews on Healthgrades. Unfortunately my visit did not go as well as I expected. I have a 3 hour drive to LR and had to wait 1.5 hours to be seen sitting in a hard back chair which only intensified the pain . No one checked on me or explained the long wait. He had not reviewed the MRI disc I had brought prior to seeing me. While he was pleasant, the visit was rushed, questions were not answered ,and I left the office very confused about his treatment plan and in a great deal of pain. On the recommendation of my physician, I will be getting a second opinion from a neurosurgeon in Memphis.

I cannot say enough good things about about Dr. Onyekwelu! I came to him with a severe lumbar condition that was excruciating and left me barely able to walk. After performing major back surgery he was able to repair the lumbar and end the nerve pain in my back. I am now walking again and although still recuperating, I am doing amazingly better. He’s an excellent surgeon who is both highly skilled and highly personable. I cannot recommend anyone more strongly than he! Thanks to his skill and care my wife and I can now resume an active life. I cannot thank him enough for all that he has done!

Dr. O and his team has been helping me throughout this journey. They has always treated me with respect and like family. They never rushes me when I’m walking and make me feel safe. They listen to your concerns and problems. They give you awesome feedback and options on what’s best for you and your body to heal. I love my doctor and his nurses. I hoping he will be with me on this journey to the end. I definitely recommend Dr. O and his staff to anyone that will listen. Ortho Arkansas has some of the best doctors and nurses there is in Arkansas.

The doctor took a lot of time and listened carefully to me. He explained everything well and recommended a course of action. I was extremely impressed with him.

Dr. Ikemefuna Onyekwelu, a.k.a. Dr. O, and his nurse Laura are truly in a league of their own when it comes to caring for patients. My husband had been unknowingly suffering from a herniated disc in his neck for years. After doing tests and MRIs, Dr. O did a teleconference with us to explore options. He was thorough in explaining things in terms we understood and was honest with us by giving his opinions when we asked for them. He spent over an hour with us making sure we understood everything. My husband chose to undergo ACDF surgery, and we were impressed by how easy Laura made the preoperative and postoperative process; she was quick to check on us and answer any questions. One week after surgery, my husband was experiencing very little pain. He says he's regaining his strength he had been missing. We could not be more pleased with the results and staff. If we have any more spinal issues, we know who to call! Dr. O is one of the most gifted surgeons in our book!

Best team ever...from my original appointment, through surgery, and after care, Dr O and his team were wonderful.
