Dr. Hugh O'Shields Jr, MD

I have never had the displeasure to meet such an uncaring physician. Before he ever introduced himself he accused me of being a drug seeker- based on information that he had misread. After I asked him to leave my room, he proceeded to tell the entire staff that I was drug seeking- leading to a night in absolute agony. I do not recommend.

After medication caused my throat to swell shut, I was admitted to Grandview Hosp. for an emergency tracheotomy that saved my life. I spent 7 days in intensive care because the surgeon would not come back to remove the throat tube. Enter Dr. O'Shields who offered to call the surgeon and remind him. When he still didn't return, Dr. O'Shields offered to call another doctor to do it. He called Dr. Sheldon Black, who came on a Sunday and removed the tube and discharged me. God bless them both!

We met Dr. O'Shields for the first time today at Greandview Hospital; he took the time to sit with us in the hospital room (even drew us a picture!) to answer our questions and to explain the treatment. First impression was impressive.
