Good and Bad
Tiny waiting area which was filthy. Waited 45 min. in the exam room which was far from clean also until Dr. Chen showed up. She did spend adequate time with us and explained everything clearly and asked for questions. However, she coughed continuously and even though she was wearing a mask it was still a little unsettling. The mask also made it difficult at times to understand what she was saying. People visiting a pulmonary doctor should not have to sit there breathing in dust and dirt.

My visit went good. I had post Covid problems with my lungs. Dr.Chen did the proper exam and ordered chest x ray which, by the way, is ordered before a CT scan can be ordered. In the world we live in today you have to follow procedures or the insurance will not cover. I consider her a good doctor, one who has her patients in mind before spending their money. Sometimes we don’t hear what we are told when the attitude walks in. I give her a rating of five and more if I could. Plus I think her staff is very good.

All was well until we met the doctor for my husband's first time at the office. Dr. Jennifer Chen at the North Austin location is inadequate at best. She interviewed my almost 77 year old husband, who had been suffering from a horrendous, deep cough for most of the winter, and never even listened to his chest nor touched him in any way. The cough had subsided a few days prior, but she said a CT Scan of his chest was contraindicated. This is a man who smoked for 45 years, has a father who died of lung cancer and has cardiovascular disease. She said he is not at risk of lung disease and he will be out of the guideline age for CT Scans when he reaches the age of 77 next month. WHAT!!! She says she doesn't have a crystal ball to know if he has lung cancer or might have lung cancer some day but although a CT Scan would show if there was something there, he's not a candidate. And we have to pay for this. Find someone else folks. This was a sham.
