Dr. Howard Sonderling, MD

Beware - Office policy states if you see another Doctor after seeing Sonderling, you can not return back to his office. They claim the other doctor is my doctor which means you can not get a second opinion and are Sonderling's patient for life. I am free to see any doctor of my choice according to my insurance company. I asked the Office Manager is this legal and she stated they can make any policy they wish. I will look into this! Perhaps it's his ego.

Dr. Sonderling is very friendly, professional and thorough. I highly recommend him based on my experiences via visits and medical procedures that he has performed.

When in for a colonoscopy, would up sick and in Boca Regional. Sonderling perforated me. His staff and himself are the worst. Calls NOT returned, week in Hospital NOT one visit…. Stay away from Sonderling!!!

Ah yes, the good old machines where no one ever gets back to you. Trying to deal with this office is impossible. Stay away and save yourself a lot of grief. Trust me.

Dr. Sonderling provided me with excellent health care. He is a great Doctor and I truly appreciate his expert skill and Knowledge. His office and nursing staff are professional, respectful and efficient. Also, Baptist Health Surgery Center is top notch. The nurses and anesthesiologist provided high quality service and care along with Dr. Sonderling. I have to admit the preparation for having my colonoscopy was the worst part. The actual colonoscopy was a good experience thanks to Dr. Sonderling and his team.

Had an outpatient procedure at Baptist Health Surgery Center. Dr. Sonderling and the entire staff were nothing short of exemplary. The nurses, anethesiologist, and Dr. Sonderling explained everything about what to expect in my procedure and had great bedside manners.

Had two televisits . Would highly recommend Dr Sonderling. He was patient and comforting. Very knowledgeable. I wasn’t rushed, he took all the time I needed to discuss my issue. Has a good plan of action going forward. Great bedside manner.

After an admission to a local hospital for an obstruction of the small intestine and a relapse within 60 days I called Dr. Soderling's office and was told he see me via a telemed call. He spent 15 minutes with me and ordered an upper GI series and I never heard back from him. I was later told by his office that his nurse practitioner called to tell me the results were fine and call if I needed anything further. I needed to know why I had this obstruction, I came to find out the doctor does not see patients in person anymore because a doctor friend of his died of covid-19 in NY. TIME TO RETIRE IF YOU'RE TOO FRIGHTENED TO PRACTICE MEDICINE. I'm not interested in seeing his nurse practitioner ( NPs are nurses with a graduate degree and in my opinion are not qualified to practice medicine) I'll be going to see a real doctor who's not scared to see patients face to face and make a proper diagnosis.

Dr Sonderling is a brilliant physician with excellent diagnostic abilities.He has always demonstrated a wonderful bedside manner and his medical credentials are extraordinary. He has been my gastroenterologist for more than 10 years and I recommend him to all my close friends.

He is patient, thorough, understandable, empathetic & puts the patient at ease...these are traits that cannot be taught..it is simply a part of his caring & relaxed nature. His attention to detail & ability to REALLY LISTEN is unparalled & I would definitely trust him with my life. I am an immensely grateful 83 yrs. ‘young’ patient who is not easily impressed...I look for perfection & with his expertise, I truly hit the mark. You’ll be thrilled with his care!

I saw Dr. Sonderling about 6 months ago after a word of mouth referral. When I met with Dr. Sonderling, and reported having had 4 years of severe, recurrent, debilitating epigastric pain accompanied by belching, bloating, and reflux, he told me that "burping is habitual," and suggested in not so blunt terms, that my issues might be psychological. I told him I had been following a low FODMAP diet for 8 months or so, though it was not consistently helping. I still had several flare ups and was often in pain. He said I should take antacids, and continue the FODMAP diet. I did not take antacids. I sought opinions from other specialists, and eventually ended up in the ER for the pain, where it was found my gallbladder was functioning with less than 1% ejection fraction - the minimum is 35%. Dr. Sonderling is one of 3 GIs that dismissed my pain, and as many doctors do in western medicine, tried to put a bandaid over the issues vs treating the whole person to identify the cause.

Dr Sonderling is an award winning medical and compassionate doc. He gives you time ,speaks in simple terms and is accurate in his prognosis. During an procedure he discovered a growth on my ovaries and saved my life literally

It is very very rare the you go to a Drs office in Florida and they: Take you 5 minutes before your appt. The front Desk actually knows who you are. Kelly remembered our conversation from the day before. She knew exactly what I was there for. She actually spoke to me eye to eye. I was in shock. From the minute I walked in I felt that they actually cared about me as an individual. Everyone that I encountered was pleasant and caring. Dr Sonderling spoke to me and was not typing furiously on a computer or an iPad. He listened to my issue and came up with a plan. I highly recommend Dr Sonderling he is truly a caring individual. This office is a rare find

I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Sonderling in a very timely manner. He was able to figure out quickly why I was having the issues and help me resolve them.

First visit. Friendly and courteous staff. Dr. has wonderful sense of humor. Felt very much at ease.

Contrary to my request the doctor didn't attempt to find the root cause of problem but only suggested taking expensive & hard to swallow over-the-counter medication vs what I was taking, just to control the symptoms. I was very disappointed.

An AMAZING professional with an outstanding staff! He provides a higher level of health care with the latest technology and an old-fashion touch that so many people desire! Initially my mom had an appointment with him and I choose to see him as well. He is extremely compassionate, caring and so detail oriented and thorough. We were so very fortunate to have found him. He never rushes the appointment time and his staff is ever so accommodating! You will absolutely love this doctor!
