Great Doctor
Great - I had 8 miserable weeks of intensive sciatica. Dr. An listened to me and was able to get a quick diagnosis. Surgery was a last resort but it was effective. Pain Free immediately and incredibly thankful

Pinched nerves/bad discs
Dr An was wonderful. Even when things are not getting better as fast as you hoped, (for me bad discs/pinched nerves)...he looks at options, thinks positively. Surgery seems to be the last resort with him. He uses his considerable knowledge to find other ways to get you better or hopefully eliminate the problem. I appreciate that a lot.

I strongly recommend Dr. An, as well as his staff.
I was experiencing lower back pain that at times was debilitating. After X-rays and MRI, a full diagnosis was available. Dr. A prescribed next steps, never rushing into surgery. Only as a last resort. It did turn out that surgery would be required, but mostly at my own insistence, not Dr. An. Post surgery now and though recovery is a process that simply requires time and patience, I’m already very happy with the initial results. Pain free and seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Dr. A came from a personal recommendation from a friend. I now know why. I can’t speak highly enough. Thanks Dr. An!!!!

The check-in was quick and easy; everyone I encountered was pleasant (except the front desk guy) which made me less nervous. Dr An’s resident doctor was kind and very helpful. Dr An was concise, answered my questions, inspired confidence and gave me the information I needed to move forward. I felt very good about seeking an opinion from Rush.

Dr. An was great!
Got in quickly. Did X-rays then two mins later I was on the way to the examination room where he came right in. We had a good conversation went over issues looked at X-rays where he was able to explain and give me a complete picture of the current and future state best and worst case scenarios. Set up good corrective actions and answered all my questions before departing. He sent his nurse right in to follow up.

Lumbar surgery consult
Dr An took his time and explained everything well. He recommended doing much less lumbar fusion than the other doctors I have been to. I am very confident and impressed with his knowledge and kindness.

Dr. An has been my Doctor since 2001,he's worked on my Cervical-Spine to my lower back, and after each I've improved immensely. He went over mri's and x- rays, and explained all my options till he was sure l knew everything that was involved. He's one of two Drs. that l know will see me when l have to be seen, and not days or weeks later, next day. I consider him a friend as well as my Doctor.

I had been to other neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and pain clinics over the course of three years looking for help to relieve my lower back pain. No one in my area, central Illinois, could or would offer me help. They said the slipped disc and spinal stenosis wasn't severe enough for surgery. Skip to early 2021 and I referred myself to Midwest Orthopedics at Rush and requested that Dr. An look at my MRIs for a second opinion. He suggested physical therapy, and wanted to try an epidural, but said he would definitely consider a micro surgery laminectomy on my lumbar region. I did what he asked, but wanted a permanent fix. He agreed and two weeks later, I had surgery. It was the best thing I could have done. He explains clearly what is going to happen and answered my web md educated questions without blinking an eye. His team is great and I have recommended him to several friends already. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long.
