Dr. Hiwot Desta, MD

I recently had my second colonoscopy with Dr. Desta. People give the procedure a bad name. It's not the most fun I've ever had but to not have the exam, well the alternatives are - worse. I'm a lucky one. The Doctor is quiet by nature but caring, confident and reassuring. For all my projected stress I completed the procedure without incident and appear to be fine. I'm grateful to be a patient of Dr. Desta.

Dr. Desta was originally recommended to me by two of my other doctors. Have been going to her since very first colonoscopy. The office is efficient, staff has always been professional, and Dr. Desta has been wonderful. This was pre-colonoscopy appointment to set me up for next procedure. Clear instructions, as always, and feel like I’m in good hands with the practice and Dr. Desta.

Worst experience. Felt like a production line- get them in, get them out. Woke from anesthesia, barely coherent, told to get dressed, was handed some papers then led staggering (literally had to hang on to the arm of one of the nurses) out the door - realized later my shirt was on backwards and inside out (had to laugh at this - couldn’t they have helped a friend out and let me know!). Just found the whole place extremely impersonal, rushed and uncaring - it was like herding cattle through the lines; just move ‘em along.

She was kind, thorough, and fabulous

I have been treated by Dr. Desta for several years. I find her to be competent, kind, and knowledgeable. She is explained my conditions and results in an understandable manner that also conveyed her care & concern for her patients. I would highly recommend her.

Bad experience/ Unpleassant staff That was my first time at this practice. When I came into the office, they asked me to sit in the waiting room. Someone else arrived after me and, in two minutes, that person who just arrived went into the doctor's office. After 10 minutes, the fron desk lady asked for my ID and insurance card. After another 10 minutes, she said that I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment because I was late. Unbelievable! Anyway, I left the office, and I will never go back to this practice. I will not recommend this practice to anyone. Very disappointed. I cannot say anything about the doctor because I could not meet the doctor, only the front desk's unpleassant staff.

Absolutely the WORST office I have been too. Impossible to actually talk to a person by phone. You must leave a message and then wait for them to call you back... can take up to two days. Heaven forbid you have a question about your procedure. Good luck getting that answered. Office staff rude.

Horrible never showed back up again.

I have seen Dr. Desta for more than ten years. She is outstanding as a physician, and she is a person you can trust to do her best for you. In my experience, her best IS the best of care! She is always present, pleasant, and personable. Five stars are not enough!

I had the worst experience with this doctor and her office. Never would I go back to this place. Last year I had an colonoscopy by her. She never showed up after the procedure was done. After I woke up, my husband and I waited, waited, waited in the room for her or someone to at least show up with a brief post-procedure talk. No one ever came over to us. Also before the procedure started, their nurse couldn't insert the IV needle in my arm (he didn't know how to do it in the right way). He inserted the needle into my arm at different places three times, causing aches and bruises in my arm. The doctor stood aside watching and letting the guy continuously insert the needle into my arm creating new aches until another nurse came over to start the IV at the right spot. I don't know whether there have been any changes to their professional skills and work ethics so far.

I have had four or five procedures with Dr. Desta. She is thorough, caring, and professional. She has always made me feel comfortable and that my health is her number one priority. I can’t recommend her enough!

She’s very patient and willing. She’s determined to get to the bottom of the things. She listens and very respectful. I highly recommend her.

Dr, Desta and her entire staff gave me the feeling that I was important to them, and the confidence that I was going to receive the very best of care. Dr Desta spent a great amount of time explaining to me the procedure and the results of the procedure. She is an exceptional doctor - knowledgeable, caring and sincerely interested in her patients.
