Dr A is extremely difficult to reach. Both by phone and by the pharmacy. It’s hard to get refills on prescriptions because he won’t answer faxes, phone calls, or refill requests through the pharmacy computer. The last time I had an appointment with Dr. A I waited in the waiting room for over 3 hours past my appointment time, and I had arrived 45 minutes early. Once you’re back he’ll spend maybe 5 - 10 minutes with you, and send you on your way. He nor any of the staff listens to concerns and waves off those concerns.

Dr A. himself is s very knowledgable man. Its his business practices that are undesirable. His entire office staff is HIGHLY INCOMPETENT. Of the three years ive been going to Dr. A. NOT ONE PERSCRIPTION HAS BEEN WRITTEN PROPERLY. Good luck in contacting the office. Even Pharmacies cannot get thru. I only wish he could work out the glitches with his staff and hire competent people

I have been seeing this doctor for a few years and always hoped the office visit experience would improve but it never has. The office staff is very rude, especially the front desk. They could not care less if you’re there or not. No greetings ever. I brought this to the attention of the doctor and he said, “ you’re not the first person to tell me this. I will speak to them” If he did, it made no difference. I am in the medical field and I can’t imagine a doctor risking his reputation by having such incompetent staff. Th front desk is the window to any practice. As for Dr Alrefai, he orders tests haphazardly, does not follow up with results unless asked and is very brusque and short during visits. To his credit, he may be a victim of his own circumstances. It is almost impossible to get meds refilled in a timely manner or to even communicate with this office. I realize endocrinologists are scarce in our town but enough is enough. I will be moving on.

Dr. A is absolutely wonderful!! Best doctor I have ever had. His bedside manner and compassionate approach is remarkable. He will call you to discuss lab results (even after business hours) if an emergent lab results. He truly wants the best for his patients. I request to only see him when I go to the office! The nurse practitioner that is there with him is awful- she shows zero emotion and zero compassion. I do not have anything good to say about her. I will ONLY see Dr. A for those reasons. I have noticed his office staff turnaround is high but that doesn’t make a difference to me. The phlebotomist is wonderful, as well!! Always hits me on the first stick!

I just moved to the area. Dirty office. Rude receptionist. Dr doubled my thyroid medication without seeing bloodwork on me. Ordered $2000 worth of tests I didn’t need with a lab out of network. Sent me for thyroid ultrasound for known nodules. Took them 6 weeks to call me about my results. Changing doctors!

I went to Dr. Alrefai for years after he took over the practice of my previous endocrinologist who died. I thought he was competent although he doesn't spend much time with patients. But the real problem is with the office. There is a constant high turnover with staff. It is very difficult to call in and speak to a person, and the times I left messages I never received a call back. Also, over time it seemed to take longer and longer to get a prescription refilled. Finally, I ran out of one prescription and in spite of several calls over a period of 3 weeks no one ever refilled it. I finally had to call my primary care physician to have him write scripts for me until I could find a new endocrinologist. I also had the worst experience I've ever had with any phlebotomist in his office. Since then I've found a new doctor who is better in every conceivable way. There are serious problems with this practice and my recommendation is don't torture yourself.

I went to this doctor several years ago for a very short time....I just did not like his approach or how he took care of me (he wanted me to use a monitor and an omni-pod) and he was too quick and did not take his time in going over my situation in full. I am trying to find another Endo doctor to go to instead of my present one, and was considering going back to Dr. Alrefai, but then I remembered the horrible experience in trying to get cooperation from his terrible staff. I had to end up going to the office in person in order to get my lab work, as the staff would not call or send or answer the phone, so we had to go into the office to get my results. Many other reviews echoed my experience with the staff. I wonder who the others who experienced problems at this office found a better choice, and if they would share this information with me and others.

Most knowledgeable doctor around. He diagnosed me when no one else could and treated me and I was feeling better in no time. The other reviews complaining about the rudeness of his staff or the office rules he has about showing up to appointments for refills is easily forgotten when he actually helps so much! When your health is on the line, waiting 40 minutes to be seen is really no biggie and you can deal with a rude receptionist or phone lady when your doctor is this amazing! His bedside manner is great too. The point is to be treated and feel better not worry so much about the little things. Highly recommend.

Believe all of the reviews you’ve read about this practice. Dr A might be a good doctor but it’s hard to tell because he spends about 3 minutes talking to me in each appointment. His staff will not return calls so it’s impossible to get a refill, it’s impossible to get another appointment and they do not care if you get your medicine or not. Now, I’m getting office staff harassment in an attempt to get a copy of my previous tests/medical records for my new endocrinologist. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!!!!

Dr. A is a good doctor but his office staff is the worst I have ever seen. They will not answer the phone. You cannot get a prescription refilled. You are left without life requiring supplies. A diabetic cannot just stop taking insulin etc.
