Literally the worst dr ever! I feel like his medication guinea pig. Told him how bad and frequent my anxiety attacks are and he said, “well good thing we don’t pass away from them” he has ZERO compassion, doesn’t listen and needs to RETIRE!

KEEP LOOKING
Everything I read in these reviews about Zeidman is completely spot on. Has a GOD syndrome. So very rude. My niece has been going to him for several years now but only because she needs her meds. Finding a new doctor is an on going process. We went in for a consultation that was requested by a group home concerning her diagnosis. He never addressed that but rather gave a new prescription for a new diagnosis. When I asked about what we came for he because infuriated and told us point blank we had to leave. Began ranting about his credentials and status in the profession. I have never been treated in such a manner. STAY CLEAR thinks he does not have to provide a explanation for anything.... BAD NEWS

Condescending
I agree with all of the other reviews because he is extremely unprofessional. Two examples... first, he condescendingly said that I didn't need a "pick-me-upper" (referring to an anti-depressant) as if I was a 1950's housewife, even after I told him I had suicidal thoughts. Second, I've been stuck going to him for years because of insurance and he never remembers who I am or my diagnosis - like he can't be bothered to take two minutes to read my file before the appointment.

Made me feel like a lab rat, he told me that he took enjoyment out of my mental pain. Worst experience I’ve ever had.

Wow - I wish I'd found this site months ago. I completely agree with all of these reviews. As others have said above, all he did was go through a questionnaire, and specified at one point that he just wanted yes / no answers - apparently, I was giving him too much information. He put me on meds that don't seem to be having any real effect. He was a no call / no show to one of our appointments, then they tried to charge ME a no-show fee because I stopped waiting when he was 15 minutes late. Bottom line, he didn't really seem to give a damn.

Deplorable, Unfortunately this is the only place covered by my insurance. After my second visit I have decided to pay out of pocket to a doctor who actually cares about a new patients history to provide a good continuum of care. I did not feel that the PA was compassionate earthed. I requested that my prior records be transferred so they could have a good history before changing meds that have been working for over 4 years. When I tried to explain my history doctor Zeidman kept Interrupting me so I was not able to complete my thoughts. I became emotional and distressed trying to explain my panic attacks which were diagnosed by multiple other doctors. Again it was more important for him to talk, He said “panic attacks are fascinating. You know you won’t die from it. It’s all in your head.” I have never felt less compassion by a doctor in my life. He clearly saw I was struggling but was more concerned about what’s in his books than in the person asking for help right in front of him.

I wholeheartedly agree with all these 1 star reviews! Had my 1st appt with him yesterday &I'm still fuming! I was there an hour &after answering his questions he cut me off everytime I wanted to explain reasons why I've been receiving the treatment plan my prior Dr& I'd worked together on for years, The 1st thing he said was I'm on too many meds& some made no sense& he TOLD me he'll be taking me off some. He doesn't know me, didn't want to hear anything I had to say.I was cut off trying to tell him it took10yrs before we finally found a combination of meds that got me out of the house after 10yrs! He doesn't want my 15yrs of medical records from my old Dr! That Dr kept me WELL informed on how meds can affect me, side effects, risk vs reward, long term effects-we worked as a team &no decisions were made until I fully understood. He's a Diplomat on the American Board of Psychiatry, well respected. But new Dr said doesn't matter, my meds make no sense.Zeidman wants to mess with what works!

Dr. Zeidman did not make me feel like I could talk to him. He interrupted me constantly throughout our first appointment, so much that I felt that I had to bring a list to the second appointment to make sure that I said everything I needed to say without letting anything fall by the wayside. When I told him I had been using marijuana to treat my chronic migraines, he told me to quit. When I told him I had suicidal thoughts, he blamed the pot and told me to come back in six months. Don't see him.

I cannot bring myself to call this man a "doctor"!!! I also cannot comprehend how this man is still in practice after reading all the negative reviews. I saw him for a brief 7 minutes and from the 7 minutes of talking with him, he seemed to know what my "problems" are. Which were absolutely ABSURD!!!!! I would recommend chopping off a pinky toe before seeing this guy. Also, watched one of his patients walk out and she turned to ask him a question and he completely shut the door on her. RUDE!

This man isn’t truly awful!! He just goes through a questionnaire the whole visit and didn’t listen to a word I said. It’s almost as if he has no clue what he’s saying. See any other provider.

Dr. Zeidman, I felt you can even call him that is an atrocity and doesn’t a disservice to his profession. He doesn’t care about the patient and only likes to hear himself talk. His nurse practitioner like to diagnose and give everyone attitude and makes them feel shaken for having mental health issues. Their office isn’t dirty, and dr. Zeidmans office is disgusting. It’s littered and filled with papers dropping to the floor. I have never been so thoroughly disgusted/ disappointed with med. care.

Bedside manner and a caring physician mean more than any medication or treatment when you're suffering with mental illness. Fortunately, I've met caring psychiatrists in the past and I know they are out there. Dr Heywood Zeidman has perhaps the most unsympathetic and disinterested bedside manner I've ever seen. If you have the awful misfortune of meeting Dr. Heywood Zeidman MD at Sharp Psychiatric Centers of San Diego in La Mesa, please don't give up and please don't lose hope in finding help.
