Successful Hip Surgeries
It is expected that patients will have positive and negative experiences with doctors. I felt compelled to write this review because I was surprised the overall rating was not higher.Dr. Siegel accepted me as a patient last fall (2024). After two years of limping around and not having any quality of life I needed two hip replacements. I was hesitant because I'm only 56.He assured me that my quality of life would improve with new hips.First hip in September and second in March (2025). I could not be happier. No more limping - no more unbearable pain!!Please know that Dr. Siegel is a man of few words; it is just his manner. I would rather have my surgeon be focused in the OR rather than unnecessary conversation in the office. If you want long drawn out conversations then Dr. Siegel may not be the surgeon for you. Thank you Dr. Siegel. You are truly an amazing surgeon and I am blessed to have had the privilege to be one of your many satisfied patients.

The goat of orthopedic surgeons!
My wife Tina came to Dr. Siegel with a mess. She had already been sepsis, and had 4 surgeries when she arrived to see Dr. Siegel. This great doctor, who is very caring set up a plan. It took several surgeries, to actually get there. But today because of Dr. Siegel, my wife is no longer in a wheelchair. We will always be grateful to Dr. Siegel. Yes it took several surgeries, my wife was a very difficult case because of her multiple myeloma. Dr. Siegel, was patient and always a step ahead with a plan. Tina has some therapy ahead but the revision looks great, and she is walking today without assistance due to the gift God gave Dr. Herrick Siegel. Thanks GOAT! SINCERELY BILL AND TINA STRICKLAND

My experience at UAB with Dr. Siwgel
My visit was awful. My knees were x-rayed and most of my visit was with someone other than Dr. Siegel. I was told I have arthritis, no one showed me my X-rays, I was told I could have surgery or gel injection if I’d like to try. Dr Siegel barely talked to me when he came in for probably less than 5 minutes. Then the associate gave me the most painful injection Ive ever had. No pain blocker , he did not do ultrasound in area and with my husband holding me he continued looking for where to inject. It was in and out with needle. I have had gel injection before where I was first given something for pain and ultra sound where it would be injected. The experience was horrible.

Simply the best.
Did my wife's knee replacement and later her femur that was broken in two. We were astonished by his excellence. He is busy for a reason. He's worth the wait. He is remarkably kind and patient, too. My wife presented him with complicated, difficult cases that other orthopedic surgeons were afraid to tackle, and he was not hesitant in the least. He knew exactly what needed to be done and did it. Stellar, confident surgeon.

Revision Surgery
Dr. Siegel did revision surgery on my hip 10 months ago and I’m still in pain. I hope I don’t have to have a third one because I still have the other one pending.

Siegel is a great surgeon. I'm serious. I was told I was going to lose my leg and I'm telling you, he was confident he could help me and he really did. I'm so proud of how I'm doing. I had a fantastic therapist and great support from the whole group at UAB Highlands. I recommend going to Dr. Siegel. He is awesome

I had both of my total knee replacements done by a surgeon (I don't want a mention his name). I just did not do well. They hurt, I couldn't do a lot of things I wanted and my husband was driving me crazy about seeing another surgeon. I went to a couple of surgeons that looked at it, couldn't figure out what was wrong and they all said "Go to Dr. Siegel." Thank god I did! He was wonderful. He was not only sweet but fixed both of my knees and I'm could not be happier. I have sent other friends from church to him and they have not stopped thanking me. He is very busy, so you need to bring something to read.

I was highly impressed with the facility and the office staff, but very disappointed in the actual visit with Dr. Siegel. He came highly recommended, but my visit fell far below my expectations. While there, I had an additional five x-rays along with the information and test I already had from a previous orthopedist. Dr. Siegel spent 3 minutes with me, never once examining me or explaining results of the new xrays. I will never go back. Was treated like I was invisible.

I read the reviews and was surprised by the two reviews of a 1. I have been seeing another doctor for my knee for over a year at Andrews Sport Medicine. I felt like a number among thousands. My appointment with Dr. Siegel was a 4 month wait. I felt comfortable with him from the moment he came in and introduced himself. I felt he took time to explain what my options were and what he felt would be the best treatment for me. I Made the decision he will do my knee replacement.
