Not a great experience
I had a Blepharoplasty. I made a point of asking whether my insurance would cover the procedure. Was assured they had “checked” and we were good to go. Surprise, claim was denied and I was responsible for the entire cost. The outcome of the actual procedure is just ok—not great aesthetically speaking. Would not recommend.

I was referred to Greenman eye from my eye care Dr back in Alabama for over 30 years. I have an eye condition called Keratoconus A condition in which the clear tissue on the front of the eye (cornea) bulges outward. With keratoconus, the clear, dome-shaped tissue that covers the eye (cornea) thins and bulges outward into a cone shape. Its cause is unknown. Long story short. They charged my insurance the first day of service for a pair of specialized contacts that I didn’t have yet. This fitting process went on for eight (8) months and they NEVER got it right. I have a pair of contact that I can’t wear to see out of. One of the twin Greenmans said they could no longer help me and offered me nothing else. I thought that this place would really help me, being recommended by my personal Eyecare Dr for over 30 years. I found out later that my eye care insurance has previously suspended them for this same kinda practice before. If I could give them a (0)Zero rating I would. If you have EyeM

Had multiple long-term eye problems that were NOT resolved by other Charlotte ophthalmologists. Working with Dr. Herb we got everything fixed over a two year period and vision now fine.

Amazingly, one year has flown by before my very perfect eyes since my life-changing surgeries with Dr. Herb. It is an experience I think about every day when I wake up and see the clock by the bed and know the time, see the vibrant greens and blues outside instead of just the blurs of color, and actually see the brilliant colors in all of nature. Happy Birthday new eyes and many thanks again to Dr. Herb and Greenman Eye Associates! OH, I'm family chauffeur now--day and night!! Judy Caldwell

I went to the Greenmans to remove floaters in 2010. I thought all was well until during the first part of my surgery I felt a terrible pain in the back of my eye. Dr. Herb had drug the cannula across the back of my retina. I felt this pain in the very back of my eye even though everything else was numb. This caused a 3mm cut which blinded me in part of my eye. Dr. Herb also let the replacement liquid run too close to my retina which caused damage to the upper peripheral vision in my eye.

Pros: Very well educated, smart & top notch doctor. Wait time was reasonable. Staff was pleasant. Office was clean and nicely decorated. Cons: Bedside manner and personalized conversation could be better. As first time patient he barely spoke to me other than to say my eyes were "maturing", that the issues he saw were common "for my age" and that cataract surgery was "only a matter of time". I'm only 45 with mild near & farsightedness! Ouch doc - you could have softened that up a bit.
