Would visit again
Went through all treatment options and answered questions until I was thoroughly satisfied. Eloquent explaining helped me understand my condition. Surgery outcome is basically perfect.

Carpal tunnel
Caring, thorough on consultation. I had very bad carpal tunnel that Dr. Ran treated surgically. The healing was quick and I have full function of my hand.

I came in for a consult on removal of a mass on my wrist. He looked at the mass and said he could remove it but that he felt I have carpal tunnel also and we could do both at the same time. He then told me the healing is usually pretty quick and you have basic use of the hand the next day. Then set me up to schedule the surgeries with an assistant. Carpal tunnel surgery takes months to heal from as you are cutting tendons. This provider did not even bother to find out if I have cardiac issues prior to scheduling me for a surgery, his scheduler had to do it. He seems eager to cut but doesn’t give accurate estimates of heal times. Between this and his ratings and reviews on here I will be following up with a BOARDED specialist elsewhere. Do not recommend.

Nice man, bad advice
Dr. Ran is very personable and kind but he determined that I needed surgery to repair a triquetral fracture in my left hand caused by an automobile accident. I sought out a second opinion with a highly regarded hand specialist in Austin. He told me that Dr. Ran was "just wrong" about needing surgery, and that at worst I'd have arthritis in that hand in 20 years. At 77 years of age now, I didn't think that would be anything to worry about.

Henry Ran did a carpal tunnel release for me in 2020. Since then I have gone to physical therapy and have sought second opinions from 2 other orthopedic hand surgeons. Both sadly informed me that they couldn't do any further surgery that would correct my chronic hand pain , loss of sensation, and strength. They both urged me to continue physical therapy. Neither of these Dr's. used the surgical approach done by Henry Ran. Do Not let Henry Ran

Didn't even talk about an arthroscopic approach for carpal tunnel release. Just told me he makes the cut in the hand. Hand now permanently in pain and little strength to use hand.
