We had an extremely negative experience with the office manager, Gina. My son called the day before his surgery to confirm that everything was approved by our insurance company, and he was told that it was. However, when we arrived for the appointment, we were informed that while the insurance covered the procedure, it did not cover the anesthesia, leaving us with a bill for $647. I have never encountered such confusion before.I explained that my son had confirmed everything with the office the previous day. When I suggested some alternatives for proceeding with the procedure, Gina told me that maybe he should just 'man up.' The only option offered was to pay the bill up front and then submit the claim to the insurance company ourselves.After waiting about two hours, it was finally established that they still needed to contact the insurance company for additional information. My daughter has some special needs and typically has severe reactions to medical procedures or surgeries. She saw Dr. McKay to have her wisdom teeth out and they were very caring and for the first time ever, she did not have her normal complications from having surgery and her mouth healed very quickly. Dr. McKay and his team are a kind, compassionate and caring staff. The patient is the number priority for them. We drive 4 hours to see Dr. McKay. He is an excellent oral surgeon.
