Very satisfied
After my former PCP retired, I went with Dr. Helen Rho. She has been exceptionally good in many ways. So many doctors are on a timer and rush you through; she does not. She has been an excellent listener, optimistic in the face of my chronic conditions, and so pleasant and cheerful, I always feel better when I leave. The quality of care has been very good so far. I have had no problems with prescription orders or refills, and rarely have had to wait longer than my scheduled time. Boulder Medical Center is just a very busy, overloaded place now and scheduling can sometimes go wrong with any of their providers. But Helen has been terrific.

Excellent physician
My initial visit with Dr. Rho was in May 2023. In May and June 2024 I saw her for the Medicare annual wellness exam followed by a second appointment for a medications check. She is easy to talk to and very informative about the wide range of issues we have covered.

Completely unreasonable
Last year I came for my annual physical, I came the 20 minutes early to check in only to then wait a full hour before being seen. This year I arrived 6 minutes late and even called them to give them the heads up. She told the receptionist to reschedule me. I believable. And I impresses when I came last year so last year I came and asked her whether a particular lung issue could be inherited as my father just passed away from it. She had no idea and made no effort to find out. What is she a primary care physician if she’s not willing to find answers to relatively easy questions. I’m done with her.

Bad Experience
On September 1st I had a 1:00 pm appointment with Dr. Rho. I arrived at Boulder Medical Center at 12:45. I registered in the lobby and all kiosks had lines. I finally was able to check in and proceeded to her office. I checked in at reception was told there was no paperwork for me(receptionist checked) . I sat down. Then another person came out said I did have paperwork,so I filled it out and returned to the receptionist. It was now about 1:20-1:25. I was then informed by the receptionist that I had checked in at 1:01 and that Dr. Rho went on to the next patient. I asked how long it would be, 20 minutes was the answer. About 40 minutes later, i was informed by another person that I had checked in at 1:03 and that I would not be seen and could go to Urgent Care. Needless to say, I was in shock. Personnel were rude, unprofessional. This all occurred out loud in the waiting room. I left but came back to request all my medical records as I will not be returning. Horrible!

Helen is extremely intelligent and she always gets straight to my health needs at hand. She asks many important questions during my visits and makes specialist physician referrals as necessary. I have referred her to two people who also find her straightforward manner and confidence refreshing.

Dr. Rho was extremely rude and judgemental of me involving a very common and harmless thing *down there*. A bit of hair on the end of an IUD string! She literally said to me "WHAT are you putting up there!?" I was so embarrassed and she refused to do a pap smear on me even though I had just turned 21 and needed one. Worst bedside manner I've ever experienced. I cried at my next gyno appt explaining it to them because Dr. Rho made me feel so horrible and gross over a bit of hair, but thankfully my new gyno reassured me that she sees this all the time. Like all the time. And it's totally harmless. There was no need for Dr. Rho to speak to me in such a judgemental and dramatic way. Horrible experience AND she refuses to refill any meds, even topical acne meds, without another appointment.

I've never had a doctor that makes you jump through more hoops than Dr. Rho. She has made me get blood tests in the middle of a pandemic for medications she's been prescribing me for years. She won't respond to refill requests unless you HARASS HER. She has different standards for each patient, what she will and will not prescribe (will prescribe me a med, but not my husband). It is beyond frustrating and I do not recommend you go to her unless you have time to continuously call her office and harass her to get things done. Even her office staff say this is true about her and that patients call daily complaining.

My experience with Dr. Rho was awful. My PCP was out of town before the holidays, so Dr. Rho was the only one I could get in to see. I went In knowing what was wrong with me and when I told her what I suspected- she was dismissive and condescending. She said she had to do a full pelvic exam in order to make a diagnosis.. midway thru the pelvic she literally opened the door and walked out of the room to get equipment...and left the door open with me still in the stirrups for all the hall to see!!! Mortifying to say the least. After she figured out that I was correct in my self-diagnosis, she said she would have her nurse call in a prescription for me. Well that never happened. And to top it off- it was the day before the holidays so I couldn’t reach anyone to get my prescription. I do not recommend this doctor.

Dr. Helen Rho is very conscientious about your health concerns. Her knowledge in many areas helps to reach clear conclusions as to the best ways to better your health. She is warm and compassionate and listens to you without being in a hurry. She also involves you in the decision-making as much as possible. Her assistant, Cristina, makes you very comfortable and relaxed right away. Like Dr. Rho, she is also very warm and caring which helps you to relax as soon as you enter the office.

I recently moved to the area and needed a new primary care physician. Dr. Rho came highly recommended by a family member. Dr. Rho is very caring, detail oriented, and engaging. She addressed all my concerns and health issues. She checked some labs to monitor for medication side effects, and referred me to a specialist at my request. We also spoke about lifestyle modifications to improve my overall health. I strongly recommend Dr. Rho and have already recommended her to several of my colleagues.

I went to Dr. Rho for medication management in regards to mental health medication management and a concern over an unusual symptom. She didn't even examine the symptom physically, and when I started to show distress over my mental health management she looked at me with confusion and made me feel very lame for feeling off. She did not really address it other than handing me the run of the mill questionnaires for various mental health illnesses. She simply continued me on the medication that I told her had not been helping me. I had been on this medication for years and knew it was not working. I transferred over to Dr. Bundy through BCH and have been EXTREMELY happy with that decision.

Right now she is 35 minutes late. She expects us to get here early so I have been here for almost an hour. I know she has refused to see a patient who was very sick because she was 10 minutes late and delayed the woman’s treatment for a week. I find her demand that other respect her time without demanding that she respect our time a very unprofessional approach. She seems to value her time and relations above others

My visits with Dr. Rho leave me thoroughly impressed with her diagnostic abilities. She is warm, caring, patient and really listens when you are discussing a symptom or health issue. She gives the most thorough examinations I have ever had, and explains the outcomes of tests and examinations with clarity and patience until you understand. Dr. Rho also goes far and above in her care. I was surprised upon reaching home after one appointment when the phone rang as I walked through the door to find her calling because upon looking at my chart afterward-she had another thought about my condition and made another adjustment to my care-which helped a tremendous amount. In my view-you can't get a doctor better than that!

I have recently seen Dr. Rho because my regular doctor was out of town. She diagnosed me with bronchitis and gave me some coughing pills and said it was a virus and there was nothing else she could do. This was on Friday. I got a lot worse on Monday and went back. She insisted on not changing anything except by telling me to by Afrin. I begged her to give an antibiotic and she kept refusing. I was very sick. My coughing had worsened significantly and I was very congested. She said for me to put a mask on and go back to work. I work close to people. And I couldn’t even open my mouth to talk because It made the cough worse. Finally my regular doctor ( who also work at the a Internal Medicine) at the BMC came back today. He listened to my lungs, confirmed that I had bronchitis and told me that I needed to be treated. He prescribed me this morning: an antibiotic, coughing medicine with codeine, an anti-inflammatory and an inhaler. I already feel better. Avoid Dr. Rho if u can!
