Rude and Cold
I was very unhappy with Dr Carter. She is obsessed with weight (I am overweight, but not obese) and was cold and unnecessarily rude. I left my first visit in tears. She spoke to her assistant about me as though I wasn't in the room and I've never felt so uncomfortable at a physical in my whole life.

Dr carter was me, my mother and my sisters doctor......for my mother, my mother is deaf.....and as I sat with her tonight she was going through paperwork and crying over her medical records hurt and angry....she forwarded her medical records from doctor carter to her current provider and she found out things about her medical history that she apparently never knew.....because Dr carter actively engaged in blatant discrimination of a deaf person by refusing to provide a certified American Sign Language interpreter. My mother never understood or was aware of any medical condition she was being treated for which is just horrifying. My mother has paid for this dearly with her health as she was never explained to or able to understand what she was being treated for, how she should be taking care of her health conditions. BY LAW DEAF PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO CLEAR AND ACCURATE COMMUNICATION ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO THEIR OWN BODY SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUED FOR HER BLATANT DISCRIMINATION!!!!!

Judgmental & rude. Saw her a few times before I switched doctors because every appointment I had with her was a smug lecture with no solution offered.

Dr. Carter has no personality. She is obsessed with weight and BMI and borderline body shames her patients. She orders unnecessary blood work quite frequently -- I actually said to her at one point that I feel that she has me come in for "check-ups" just so insurance will be billed.

I recently transferred to Lahey Amesbury from Lahey Burlington and was connected with Dr. Carter. I was initially hesitant to see her based on some negative reviews online, but I've found this to be unfounded as all of my interactions with her have been great. Dr. Carter is thorough, professional, and pleasant. I am overweight and while risks of obesity were certainly discussed, it was covered in a fact-based, research-oriented manner and Dr. Carter outlined various weight loss resources.
