Good Rheumatologist
Have been a patient of Dr Abualula for 2 years. I ask questions, write my concerns and go over with him during my visit. He responds and directs me when necessary. Working with him is a two way street. He is responsive to my concerns. Office staff is helpful and polite.

Not Helpful at All
My appointment started like many, “Why are you here?” I told him I’ve had abdominal and back pain for 2 years, my PCP ran a ANA test that came back positive. She believes I have Lupus. Dr said, he couldn’t figure out why she even ran that test. He said he could see that I have an autoimmune condition but there are hundreds of them and I need to seek other doctors first. I asked him if he was serious and he said he would order more bloodwork but there would not be a need to schedule an appointment. I should just call the office for results. Pretty much like many of the reviews, I was dismissed and sadly told the lady that checked me out that he didn’t see a need to help me.. She said she was sorry.

Horrible!!
Telehealth
I was referred to Dr Abdalula for my Sjogrens. I did an in office visit and just looked at me and says, 'you don't have Sjogrens' and said we'll do blood work and walked out. Test came back positive and said on a telehealth call it didn't score high enough for him to diagnose me. I'm in terrible pain and he says 'so are most people'. I was floored with his unprofessionalism. Terrible patient care. Will be looking for a new doc. Don't waste your time with this mean, inconsiderate man.

Horrible Experience and Unprofessional
Three weeks ago I saw Dr. Abualula, referral from my PCP due to high A1C 6.0 and pain in hips, hands, and shoulder and parent history of systemic lupus, SLE. Our 1 meeting, he looked at other test I'd recently had and said he most likely thought it was OA but that with my family history he would order a complete set auto immune panel and xrays. My bloodwork came back with a SM Antibody positive, which is specific for Lupus. I don't know the criteria other than it was listed as positive at 1.3, Above 1.0 is positive and below 1.0 is negative. I called yesterday to schedule a followup which was for today. He had his office staff call to cancel saying I didn't have Lupus. I actually never spoke with him at all. I asked the staffer if she could ask him to call me for just a minute to explain the SM Antibody result. She called me back and that he said yes it's positive but low and not clinically significant WHAT?? Someone with a positive SM Antibody and he can't talk with me!!! Horrible Dr

On my first and only visit the Dr came into the exam room and asked me why I was there. I told him my primary Dr said I needed to see a Rheumatologist. I asked him if he had seen my lab work which shows I have RA. He said that if you do the test in 5 people you will get a certain percentage that will show positive so he made me get a hand X-ray and labs to prove that I don’t have any hepatitis. Then it took him 3 weeks to get back to me with my X-ray and lab results even after I called the office 3 times requesting the results. Which shows I don’t have any hepatitis and the radiologist states that I have RA. The office is run very poorly, no follow thru. I would not advise anyone to go there as there are Rheumatologist out there that actually care about you and follow thru with labs and X-ray results in a timely manner!

No, I would not recommend him. He appears to have issues listening to elderly patients and gets easily frustrated with them when they cannot fully understand his course of treatment. Repeating things over and over while displaying irritability and frustration is no way for a doctor to act. When told to stop berating patient, dr Abualula then stood up and said he could not work with the patient and that the patient suffering from (osteoporosis, Parkinson’s and a recent stroke) and a disabled veteran caregiver were both racist and that no one tells him to stop not even his father. He needs to attend anger management courses and behavior after getting to the door and opening it appeared like he was attempting to intimidate the patient and to make a scene within the sanctity of the dr and patient privilege environment by getting rude, loud and disrespectful to both the patient and care provider. I would never recommend this doctor unless he gets sensitivity training. Visit 14 Apr 21.

Excellent doctor AND an excellent human being. He is very caring - HE called to follow-up with me after an appointment. He listens, and he will research for answers if he doesn't know the answer. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Abualula. (And yes, I am a REAL patient!)
