Excellent surgeon
Dr. Demos took my husbands complicated MoM hip case without hesitation in an emergent situation. His knowledge of this disease and experience was undeniable. His bed side manner is over the top! He made us feel at ease with the risk as much as possible and the expected outcome confidently. Overall, our experience with him was phenomenal at MUSC.

Total Hip Replacement
From my initial consultation with Dr. Demos he and his MUSC colleagues made the entire procedure a complete pleasure. The entire process was very comfortable, informative and everyone of the MUSC Staff took the time to fully explain the procedures and always encouraged questions and took whatever time was needed to provide the answers. I highly recommend Dr. Demos...he really exceeded by expectations.

Would not recommend
Had a bad headache for a couple weeks after surgery. Told Demos and everyone I saw at MUSC about it and they kept telling me to sit up more, which made it hurt worse. Went to another hospital afterwards about it. They knew right away that it was a spinal headache caused by the spinal and fixed it. Also would tell Demos about pain I was having after the operation. All he could come up with was “I can’t see pain, nothing I can do”. Turns out you can see pain. Went to another doctor, and he showed me on my x-ray that the hardware in the hip Demos operated on was loose. A second doctor and a PA also confirmed the loose hardware.

He has fixed both of my hips. He's easy to talk to, explains everything well, is thorough in his treatment and I've had no problems in the 8 years since the first hip replacement.

I saw Dr. Demos more than 5 years ago and I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone. He has a wonderful personality but he left me with a nerve damaged foot that I’m still suffering with. He assured me that I would have nerve feeling back within 2 years. That never happened, and now my right foot is looking deformed as a result of the nerve damage that Dr. Demos caused. The last time that I saw him and complained about the nerves in my foot, he told me to “live with it.” So no, I wouldn’t ever recommen

I have been seeing Dr. Demos for over 10 years now. I just love him. He knows what he is doing. He takes time with you and explains everything. Asks you if you have questions, and explains those. He has the best personality. I wouldn't let anyone else operate on me.
