Poor Follow-up by Team
I saw Dr. Hans Carlson in late 2022 for persistent lower back pain and muscle spasms which could completely upend my day when they occurred. The initial exam and discussion went fine. Dr. Carlson put in an open order for a CT in case my condition worsened. My pain and discomfort did worsen, and so in early February 2023, I had CT scan. I was in incredible pain that day. I informed Dr Carlson via email that I would like a follow-up appointment/discussion asap. I also called his office. I viewed the test result next day online, but there was no comment from Dr. Carlson. I have called several times to see if I could get follow-up appointment/CT review, as well as additional emails through OHSU MyChart. No response even though I expressed that I was in extreme pain. Then I called the office again requesting a referral to the OHSU pain clinic to see if a steroid injection might help. No response to date. This has been a very frustrating experience.

Dr. Carlson is one in a million. He takes time to explain and answer questions. Moreover he shows a personal interest in the patient's problem and makes a strong effort to help. I've found few doctors as accommodating as Dr. Hans Carlson. He seems to really love what he's doing to help others.
