A gem of a doctor
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Weiss and UCLA Digestive!Dr. Weiss is up to date so much more than my last gastroenterologist. He will do his best to get the cause of what ails you and that is the whole point.Communication is spot on… listens to your concerns and spends all the time needing so when you leave you feel heard.Three extras…. He is an expert in Celiac disease. It is hard to find a doctor with his experience. He listens to more than just stomach issues. He actually set me on the path to diagnose a chronic condition that has been bothering me for years. Had nothing to do with gastroenterology but referred me to also a great specialist. He did a colonoscopy on me today…. Expert report at the completion. Pain free because he didn’t leave me filled up with air as in past tests. He even got me a last minute tele-appointment with the anesthesiologist to calm my nerves. All the staff are super friendly and efficient at their jobs which makes the difference in a posi

Doctor Guy Weiss is a great gastroenterologist, source of knowledge, skills, and energy. His kindness and compassion shine through in every interaction. His professionalism and dedication to my well-being were interesting from consultation to post-procedure care. Doctor Weiss is not just a doctor, he is a beacon of humanity in the medical field, treating patients with respect and empathy. Beyond that, he is a true master of his craft. His knowledge and expertise are evident in every aspect of their work, and I felt completely confident in his hands throughout my procedure. I am grateful for his expertise and would highly recommend him to anyone. Thank you, doctor Weiss, for your outstanding care and for making a positive difference in the lives of your patients every day.

He is thorough very thorough, felt was seen
I’m puzzled by the one stars. He knows his stuff, went through all my health history. He is fast but I found that great, we covered 1990s to present. You cannot take the whole appt time just chit chat about getting the past health history. Get it done and focus on what’s going on now and how to fix it. The Doc took everything so he had a full picture and gave me solid game plan and facts to move forward with. I feel safe, I feel good I’m going to get better I understand more now then I did in the past. I asked questions, he listened to me and answered. Again, not sure how he received one stars, I’ve seen 1 star GI docs he’s not one of them. You want to get better see him.

Don’t do it!
From the very beginning he was dismissive and not listening. He minimized my symptoms and shrugged off what better doctors were able to diagnose. He made me feel like I was being obnoxious for just describing my symptoms. His staff was also extremely rude. Very hard to get in touch with him. He will make you wait over a week even when you can see his office already read the message. He was really rough too. I’ve had five endoscopies/colonoscopies in my life before him. After his, I couldn’t talk for almost a week and it hurt like an 8 out of 10. I’ve never had that reaction before. As someone who has genetically inherited chronic conditions, I genuinely wish he would retire so others don’t have to encounter him. Do yourself a favor and avoid months of stress and still being symptomatic. Avoid this arrogant doctor.

I walked away from the appointment feeling like a just bought this guy a car. He didn't really listen to me and immediately set me up for an endoscopy ASAP without waiting for the other options he presented to me to see if they worked instead. I do not take going into a medical procedure lightly but this doctor made it sound all willy-nilly like anesthesia was a big deal .

Dr. Weiss has been my GI doc for 3 years, and I can't thank him enough. I came to see him for a second opinion because I was suffering from severe diarrhea. I felt my previous physician wasn't listening to me and my problems (said my celiac was just fine -- totally dismissive). Dr. Weiss, on the other hand, took the time to listen and thoroughly evaluate my symptoms. He arranged an endoscopy for me within two weeks of our appointment, and then discovered I have refectory celiac disease!!! I was grateful for Dr. Weiss' careful attention and expertise!! He takes a holistic approach and also referred me to his dietitians Nancy and later Janelle, and since then, my disease has been under control. He's funny, smart, and genuinely cares about his patients' well-being. Thank you!

I had a colonoscopy yesterday at UCLA with Dr Weiss, and he was personable, knowledgeable, informative, professional, and attentive - as were all staff. Dr Weiss and his team inspired confidence and made me completely comfortable with the experience.

In 2016 I had the worst colonoscopy experience with Dr. Weiss. I woke up early and told him I could feel everything. He told me to stop talking as he needed to concentrate so as not to puncture my colon. It was excruciating and I heard the anesthesiologist worrying about my PO2 level. Afterwards Dr. Weiss said he thought I was asleep because I stopped talking! There were four others in the room. He should have assigned someone to sit at my head and help me through the procedure. When he finally returned my call, he was defensive and argumentative, and not in the least apologetic or willing to learn from my experience. My prep and post nurses, Shara and Phoebe, were wonderful.

He was insensitive and judgmental. I left feeling dejected and hopeless, and he made some very unwarranted comments about my mental health that really upset me. He may know what he's doing, but he didn't articulate any of it in a way that made me feel encouraged or hopeful about recovering. I feel even worse after going

I recently had a colonoscopy with Dr. Weiss and from the time I initially met with him to the actual colonoscopy, he was extremely professional and efficient (as was his entire staff-they made it me so comfortable). As we initially met, he noted every medical issue I had and listened, but was also typing everything in. During the day of the colonoscopy, the entire staff was so nice and professional and made it easy. I would highly recommend him.

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Weiss. I've been seeing gastroenterologists for nearly my entire life, and he is one of the best. On-time appts, spends a lengthy 45 minutes with patients who have chronic gastro conditions, is well-versed in UCLA's East/West medicine dept (important for chronic disease sufferers), called in a referral to his favorite nutritionist for me, helping me treat SIBO right now - could go on. He's a farther drive for me than Santa Monica dr's but so worth it!

After seeing 3 different doctors for the last five years for IBS, Dr. Weiss noticed some inconsistencies with my previous results. I came to him feeling despair, especially since nothing worked. He thoroughly reviewed my files and explained why another colonoscopy was warranted and ultimately diagnosed me with ulcerative colitis. It's been four months since I first saw him and my diarrhea is all gone! He's friendly and a top expert. Really smart, to the point, and caring.

I agree with what others have said. Dr. Weiss was curt and unhelpful. He barely listened to my problems and sent me for tests that I clearly didn't need -- such as a celiac blood test. Then he never talked to me about the results of these tests. Waste of time.

If negative stars were available, he would have -5. Completely unprepared for my visit, had not read the background and history of my issue, not read the 2 page medical questionnaire, nor reviewed the 3 relative lab results that were sent to his office, which were scanned in their system. Unprepared, careless, inattentive, and unprofessional. His young age reflects his actions. I would not recommend this guy to anyone. For my procedures, I requested to change doctors because of his actions
