Great listener, always friendly & professional
I saw Dr. Powers for probably 9 or 10 years through varying degrees of depression. He was always very helpful, offered alternative thoughts/perspectives to mine, generally very helpful. I would still be going to him, but the clinic had a hard time keeping therapists - and after losing 2 that I had seen for many years I refused to see new therapists with little or no clinical experience. Doc refused to see me after that. I do not hesitate to recommend him.

He and his staff like to talk down to patients
Dr. Powers and his staff like to talk down to their patients. They are not open-minded about patient issues and like to interrupt. They talk down aggressively when someone stands up for themselves. You are supposed to help improve mental health. Not worsen it.

I told him of my severe abuse over many years, by parent, brother, husband, etc and after a long time seeing him...he implied that I was simply smart and made it all up. He had my therapists ask how I felt about him? Years before I had told him of a Dr. abusing me. I guess he thought it was my fault. He and my therapist asked me questions to prove I wasn't lying... I'm never going to put trust in another psychiatrist. I'm getting off all his meds.
