Dr. Gunnar Salumaa, MD

I have had Dr. Saluama for about 15 years as my primary physician. He is very through. A few years ago one of my standard blood tests was always coming back slightly high. He recommended we investigate further. He ordered more extensive blood tests and CT scan which discovered I had a rare hereditary disease. He consulted with a specialist they recommended phlebotomy to reduce the risk of liver cancer. My numbers are now under control. The specialist he referred me to, now has me on liver cancer monitoring which includes blood work and either CT scans or ultrasounds every 6 months and endoscopy every 2 years. I think highly of Dr. Saluama as well as the specialist he referred me too. Dr. Saluama doesn't try to treat everything himself. He will refer you to the proper specialist or at a minimum consult we then concerning your treatment. He is very easy to schedule in person or phone appointments as well. Exceptionally good primary physician.

Dr. Salumaa is the first GP I have had in ages that I like and trust. He has a personality as well which is a plus for people with chronic issues who are going to be doing a fair amount of interacting with their doctor. Prompt response to issues. Nice person.

I had a phone apptwith Dr. Salumaa. There were no available appt' in Union City & I was in no condition to be driving to San Leandro, so the advise nurse (who seemed more caring) advised the phone appt. I have an established doctor & history in SF, but find it very odd how differently they treat patients here vs there. It's still Kaiser in Northern California umbrella. He was short and very uncaring. Zero bedside manner. You have no patience. Keep it up & you'll have NO PATIENCE Pharmacy ??
