Worse than before surgery
I recently had thumb revision surgery with DeSilva. He didn't spend much time with me in any of my appointments before or after surgery. The surgery was unsuccessful. I have more pain now at 8 weeks, than before the surgery.

Arrogant and Dismissive
I have never been treated so unprofessionally he negated my elbow pain and told me to go home rub cream on it. And keep using it I won’t injure it any further ! Meanwhile I can’t lift things I am having numbness in my hand and Horrible pain when ever I use my arm. SMH he either is neglecting the the less fortunate or doesn’t respect woman or his patients needs period!

Avoid this doctor
Please, please avoid this doctor! I went to him a few weeks after a wrist injury. I told him that I was in pain and could barely use my hand. Could hardly hold a pencil, or do daily functions. He interpreted this as my being "sore." He barely examined my wrist, took an x-ray and said there was no fracture and he didn't think an MRI was needed. He said I just needed time to heal. He was very interested in telling us all about his work with U of A football team, a tennis team, etc. Just not a lot of interest in my injury. A week or two later, when the pain and dysfunction was worse, we insisted on an MRI, which he ordered. The MRI, which was done and read promptly by Radiology Assoc., found a fracture. We then chased Dr. DeSilva for nearly two weeks to try to get him to review the MRI and contact us. We left two messages on the patient portal and two phone messages. A week after the MRI, his office staff assured us that we would get a response in the next few days from the doctor. We re

If I could give ZERO stars I would! I'm young and somewhat healthy and I know this. But I've been having bad joint and wrist pain for 3 weeks now. No otc pain works. He was quick to say I was too young to have a diagnosis it sounded like , carpal tunnel syndrome. I had labs drawn and made an appointment because the pain is just too much for me. He comes in and I try to explain my symptoms and that my pain is only getting worse. He automatically blamed it on my DEPRESSION that I've had for years!! He made me feel like I was making things up. Asking me if I'm looking for employment and if I'm collecting unemployment like what!? He even made a comment that went along the lines like "when we start to fix up here, meaning my mental health, we could fix the other problems. " he made me cry soon as I left the clinic. He made me feel embarrassed. I'm in pain almost all day and he honestly just doesn't care. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Even though Dr DeSilva was unable to help me with my problem, I was so impressed with his bedside manner I had to come give him a review. I'm disabled and have a lot of illnesses, so in my life I've probably seen three dozen doctors. This doctor is in my top 3 in terms of bedside manner. Most doctors seem like they're just waiting for you to be quiet so they can get out of there. I felt like he gave me his full attention, as though I was his only patient, and listened carefully to me. That NEVER happens. I can't speak for the other reviewer's who had negative reviews but I would say that he's probably one of the BEST orthopedic doctors in Tucson. Trust me, I've seen a lot of them, way more than the average person will in their entire lives. Dr DeSilva is really special & I wish all docs would be as attentive and compassionate as him

Dr. Desilva was aloof and inattentive when I visited him for my wrist issue. He simply recommended things that would mask my symptoms and provide no real relief. He also recommended I continue playing the sport that caused my injury while on painkillers. Advice like this from a licensed professional is extremely dangerous and detrimental in the long run. I regretfully moved forward with a last ditch effort surgery with him. It’s been over a year and my symptoms get worse every month. I’ve now developed chronic shoulder and neck pain that stemmed from the original wrist issue I had. Stay away from Dr. DeSilva at all costs. He feels the need to voice his care for his patients but it’s very clear that his attitude and approach to patient care is far from that of someone who has a genuine investment in his patients. Stay away from Dr. DeSilva, you deserve and can find much much better.

I am young, and relatively healthy. I understand that but I have pain and problems with my joints. Dr. DeSilva made me feel like he did not believe me or care. Just because I am not in the demographic that would normally not have problems with my hands does not mean I don't need someone to listen. I felt completely blown off. These problems are real and when a health care professional does not believe patients they cannot expect patients to return. I am being thrown to different specialists left and right and when I finally think I can find someone to help with my very real problems, he spends 5 minutes in a room to tell me there's nothing that can be done. I get hands are a problematic, but this is costing me days of pain to the point where I cannot pick up a glass of water or do the things I love to do. It is incredibly upsetting that I spent a specialist co-pay amount for a physician to say deal with it.

I had double carple tunnel surgery which had more complactions than Dr. DiSilva "expected"! I'm sure he's a competent doctor, but for me I would not reccomend him.

I completely amputated my hand with a chainsaw on July 4, 2015. Dr. DeSilva was the the on-call doctor at UMC. I had no expectation other than staying alive. Dr Desilva told me no worries, he's gonna do his best to reattach my hand! Two years later I just finished a 60 mile bike race with two good hands! Every ligament, tendon, nerve, arteries, and bones in place and working great! I don't refer to Him as Dr. De Silvia! I call him Doc De Vinci... Dottore Greg è il migorle!

I was apprehensive and Dr. Disilva explained everything in understandable terms, including causes of the problem and treatments. He was not only concerned with my hand but also cared about my fears and concerns. I was so impressed. He seemed to be a knowledgeable, charming, intelligent and compassionate person. He even asked me if he had addressed all my concerns before I left. His nurse was engaging, competent and very interactive. The experience was pleasant.

I was not impressed. He talked me into having Injections that only alleviated the pain for a few days. I did not make a return appointment because he didn't seem open to performing the surgery I needed.

Dr. DeSilva used a conservative approach to my carpal tunnel problem and encouraged me to help decide when it was time to do surgery. I liked having a part in the decision. He was very professional during our appointments and explained the pros and cons of the surgery. His exam room was clean and neat. His assistant did the preliminary exam and also removed the stitches afterward. They worked together well as a team.

Very arrogant and uninterested in my personal concerns about my hand injury. I am consulting another Dr. to get answers and proper care. I feel my hand injury could have been resolved with surgery, but I have been left with a crooked healed fracture.

He was so rude and aggragant. Didn't pay attention or take notes so he completely botched the surgery then blamed me for not providing the correct information. He messed my Ulna up so bad that I have lots movement in the elbow now. The nerve damage is extensive and I am looking at least one surgery and possibly two to hopefully regain motion and cut down on pain. I may have to have the arm rebuke and another graft done to fix it. DO NOT LET THIS GUY CLOSE TO YOU!!!!
