Awful.
Great if you want a doctor that will tell you you have a cold and send you on your way, terrible if you have health issues that require more than a couple seconds thought. Dismissive and uneducated, with terrible bedside manner.

Great doctor, unbearably terrible staff
Dr. Bongers is a great doctor, but his staff is frequently excessively rude and obtrusive to patients, a complaint that I have also heard from several others who also used to take their children to this location. Our son has a medication that requires seeing the physician for refill, but the medication has been written such that it has run out on the weekends, several times. Additionally, they do not notify you when the refill will not be granted without a doctor' visit UNTIL you call for the refill. Then, if the doctor has no openings, your child has to wait WITHOUT MEDICATION for several more weekdays until they have an opening. Unfortunately, the doctor is decent, but the staff is incredibly rude time and time again, even about schedule changes and other minor tasks. This makes it hard to get access to a great doctor, so we're changing doctors. Great doctor, but an absolutely terribly rude and uncaring staff.

I saw him once a few years ago. I came in because I kept having really bad chest pains on my left side, and I explained to him that my dad had his first heart attack at 39 and a lot of people in his family have died of heart attacks by 50. He just snickered and said "24 year olds don't have heart attacks." Completely just brushed off any concerns I had, and said I must have pulled a muscle in my chest. I remember looking up reviews online and he has diagnosed others coming in with chest pains as pulling a muscle. I ended up seeing a nurse practitioner at gracemed and she told me that she was in complete shock that he didn't refer me to a cardiologist just based on my family history alone, and she got me taken care of

Extremely rude, dismissive, and condescending. Told me that if my chest pain didn't go away within a few weeks I could "go to church and pray" instead of giving me real medical advice. He sees patients for about 2-3 minutes MAX and doesn't take the time to actually listen and help. I can't believe this man has an actual medical license. Worse experience I've ever had in a medical setting.

Didn't listen to symptoms, didn't bother giving an exam, told me to go get a covid test. He said and I quote - "Were in a pandemic, I tell everyone to go get a test, we don't do them here, you'll have to google where to get one".. and that was it. He didn't look at swelling, he didn't ask me any questions or go over my records to see this is an ongoing issue. Arrogant and dismissive.

I went in for an allergic reaction to some antibiotics. He told me I was overreacting about the pain levels and to just “grin and bear it” for the rest of the antibiotics.

Dr. Bongers did not listen, called me fat, was condescending and missed low potassium that was causing severe muscle cramps. He caused me to be in pain for two days while I got an appointment with a competent doctor. He is not the finest KU Medical has produced

Dr Bongers is extremely disrespectful. He did not listen or even look at my symptoms instead he joked about it and didn’t treat the problem. I am done with his ego and lack of caring. Will be finding a new doctor.

I have ALWAYS received top notch care from Dr. Bongers. He takes time to explain exactly what he is prescribing and why. He is friendly and approachable as well. I feel like he truly cares about my well being and even inquires about my family and work life at the end of the appointment.

Have been going to him for years and my mother did too (died at 93). Always the best care and I would imagine the negative remarks come from people with problems that a family doctor might not be suited to treat.

If I could leave less than a 1 I would. I called and gave them my info on my health to see if he would accept me as as patient and he did. after he finally received my records he had his nurse do the dirty work and call me to tell me that he refuses to see me as a pt. he denied to fill my magnesium prescription, I have been on for months and refused to fill my cymbalta which I have been on for a good few mths now. We all know what happens when its not weened off of. How professional.

I can't speak to the negative reviews but mine are & have been exactly what I expecting. He spent as much time with me as needed. After addressing my needs, he asked numerous times if there were anymore questions about anything at all. His nurse always calls me back timely and they get me in timely if necessary. He was recommended to me by another provider who I trusted and I've been going to him for 10 years now. I hope you give him another chance and be upfront with him about any concerns.

He does a great job. He goes over symptoms carefully. Discusses in detail what those symptoms might suggest and discusses possible treatments. He is tremendously informative, capable and friendly. Honestly, the negative reviews are unbelievable to me. Clearly, Dr. Bongers isn't the problem there.

He's a liar first off. He doesn't come off like he truly cares for his patients well being but rather is there for a pay check and an ego boost. He's belittling in his approach to discussing medical issues like he is talking to a child. He personally gave me his word over the phone and again in person that he would back date a referal to my specialist for me. After essentially tricking me into two visits in his office he then changes his mind and says he can't honor his word.
