Dr. Gopika Are, MD

Dr. Are is the most caustic and incompetent doctor I have ever gone to. She simply does not care about the patients and is going through the motions. I’ve been complaining of heavy bleeding for years and she dismissed it and said I was overweight. She refused to check me for PCOS (which I was found to have) despite the fact that I’ve had chronic cysts for 30 years. She scheduled me for a procedure at the Garden Ob in NHP. I arrived and they had no appointment booked for me. I had to beg to be seen. Thank God I advocated for myself because cancer was found during that procedure and I easily could’ve gone home since she never actually booked the appointment. I begged for days for Garden to send my records to my oncologist. They refused. I had to physically go into the office and wait (over two hours) for them to fax my records. If you value your health, look elsewhere. There are plenty of quality physicians that actually care about their patients. Dr. Are doesn’t.

I went into the office to see another provider and was out with Dr. Are, who put her fingers inside me without explaining that she was going to, she just did it and said nothing. She didn’t even say hello to me. She was rude and dismissive, and entirely prejudiced against me because I am overweight. She told me that I was bleeding during intercourse because I am fat and need to lose weight. She didn’t even do a sonogram on me, I had to ask for one myself. She dismissed my problem, which literally had me bleeding, as nothing because I am overweight. The PA then saw me and told me the same thing. This practice hates fat people and they have absolutely no bedside manner.

This place is horrible.. they don’t call back don’t follow up with results don’t care .. sent me to their new state of art facility for mammo and I still had to go else where for imaging.. then gave me 3 wrong scripts had to reschedule my appointments at the imaging place 3 times they don’t answer so had to go back to office to get it scripts myself.getting the scans was another process . provider sent me a referral for Sloan kettering before even getting my biopsy results which they never called me onSomeone called to give me a breast surgeon recommendations in their own office they didn’t even know provider first name . I Call email and text them Nothing what they put me thru I don’t wish on anyone GO ELSEWHERE!

To be so vulnerable, going in for a yearly exam, and to be treated like I was a crazy person bc I have severe pms is unacceptable. I Ieft in tears & mortified. I completed a scathing survey and no one even cared to even reach out to me about it. Righteous, pompous, inconsiderate doctor on an ego trip.

Very rude doctor and very unprofessional

I've been calling since Dec 2021 for my results and not once have been called back. I've spoken to live girls and texted them via this Klara msg system they have and still nothing. Its now March 2022. God forbid I have something and not know about it. This is disgusting and 100% pure negligence. This is so ridiculous. I no longer live in town so I can't just go in person. I trusted that I was in good care and would be followed up with, I was wrong. Avoid at all costs. Your life isn't important to everyone.

Told me the gestational sac on the ultrasound was just a cyst, even though all the other doctors at this practice had said it was definitely a sac. She claimed the medical report said cyst though. I recently requested to see the my medical records and it definitely said gestational sac and nothing about a cyst was mentioned! She literally gave me a panic attack over nothing! I really thought this was an ectopic pregnancy because of her. Dr. Are also lied in my report. She claimed to discuss prenatal vitamins with me, which she never did. Did not feel like she cared about me or my baby at all.

Horrible doctor. Went for my yearly exam. She basically told me bc I’m 36 I’ll never have kids naturally and should think about adoption or egg freezing. I believe in God’s will and she didn’t respect my decision. When I asked if the egg freezing even worked, she gave me a rude look and started to walk out of the room. All she is looking for is how she can make money. Awful, awful doctor who shouldn’t be practicing

Dr. Are was thorough and attentive. She listened to and addressed all of my concerns. She is a very knowledgeable doctor and I would recommend visiting her!

Dr. Are is an attentive physician that will take the time to talk with you about your health and her recommendations. She was with me during my entire pregnancy and delivered my baby girl. She explained everything to me in detail and discussed all things that could happen and what to expect through every step of the way. She was excellent! Would highly recommend her!

Dr. Are did not communicate well, was rude when I was confused about an unexpected procedure, opened the door twice while I was in stirrups totally exposed to the hallway, was nasty to the technicians, and handled my procedure roughly... it was shockingly unprofessional and I do not recommend her.

Worst experience I’ve ever terrible doctor!!

My worst experience with a doctor. Very poor bedside manner. Didn't answer any of my concerns or questions. Dr. Are in Massapequa was more concerned why I did my ultrasound at Zwenger Pesiri instead of their location. When I told her I already had seven ultrasounds done at their clinic and nobody noticed I had a fibroid she said it can go unnoticed during pregnancy and ended the visit storming out of the room. Didn't even bother to perform an exam on me but pushed towards an pap smear although I had one in the past year. My feeling was that she cares more about billing the insurance than about my care or concerns. For that reason I will not go to this clinic ever again. I would give 0 stars to the doctor if possible.

Dr. Are was more concerned about charging for an ultrasound (I had one 3 days prior, normal) than in examining my cervix (the reason I was there). She examined me and did not tell me if my cervix had thinned at all, because the entire time we were in the room all she was concerned about was being able to bill for another ultrasound. I have a normal pregnancy, baby's heartbeat is normal, she moves a lot, and I'm having an ultrasound in 2 more days. She then stormed out of the room. Terrible!

Very poor observation. Bad behavior. Doesn't give enough time and attention to her patients. Worst doctor ever.

The office has a super long wait. Even after they call you to see the doctor there's more waiting. Then she sees you so fast you don't even get answers to questions. When I switched doctors I learned that I had fibroids and cysts on my ovaries that needed to be removed . All that time going to her office (over 3 years) I was never told about this. The ladies in the front are also rude and not friendly, especially the lady with the glasses. Go to another doctor.

She didn't perform an exam and was more concerned with whether she can charge me for an ultrasound than actually treating me. She told me to take ibuprofen and prescribed an ocp that I told her stemmed my appetite and caused me to lose alot of weight.
