Patients beware!
This doctor has an ego that puts his patients at risk. Having to push and insist on bringing in an Infectious Disease consult during a complex infection should be a no brainer. This doc thinks he’s an expert at things that he clearly is not. He even told my mother that if she had one of her wounds treated surgically that it would never heal. That was new to the Wound Care specialist and is counter to what a Stanford specialist in the area of lymphatic disorders has recommended. As my Mom’s Advanced Directive Power of Attorney for healthcare, Dr. Ayer refused to call me even when communicating to the nurses in the hospital that I was insisting he call me. He would only text back and forth with them. He does not have his patients best interest. He’s egotistical, condensending, and doesn’t appreciate that it’s ok not to know everything. That is what specialists in their field are for. Dr. Ayer needs to learn to check his ego and ask for help.

Dr. Ayer was formerly partnered with my internist who retired. Dr. Ayer took me on and has proven very very helpful. He is knowledgeable, takes time during visits, and seems to care a great deal about me vs. just another "member of the herd."

My experience with Dr A is terrible. He is my father's doctor, and my father, vaccinated, was admitted to the ER and then the ICU at Good Sam Hospital with Covid. He is a break through case. I am his eldest son and was working to help my father, as he was not in a position to do that alone. We had a number of crisis moments, and still do. Yesterday, i was informed, via his nurse, that Dr Ayer would connect with Good Sam to connect with the doctor at Good Sam and revert back to me with a prognosis and plan. This is important as we're working on organizing nurse / care giver support for my father, and working to solve issues like supplemental oxygen. Today, after several calls i finally reached the doctors office. I was told that Dr A has left for vacation and has left no update on my father. My sense is Doctor A is simply over booked or potentially just not interested in all of his patients.

I've been seeing Dr. Ayer for years, for routine and specific visits. He is very knowledgeable, spends the time with me that I feel is appropriate, and gives me excellent medical advice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Gopi Ayer to anyone considering seeing him.

Dr. Ayer is one of the best knowledgeable caring doctors you would ever meet. I love his assessment of any health questions I have had. He is THE BEST. I would give Dr. Ayer 10 stars if he could fix his inefficient billing and front desk. Their billing office always sends me huge bills in spite of Dr. Gopi Ayer being in-network and I have a PPO. I have to always work with my insurance to resolve it. It is painful. Why does not their billing team bill the right address of Gopi Ayer of National ave (the billing team puts in a claim through the wrong billing address of 14566 Los Gatos blvd and it then shows out of network to my insurance)? If Dr. Ayer was not the best, I would have honestly discontinued due to his inefficient billing team that wastes my time.

Dr Ayer misdiagnosed my father. My family feels Dr Ayer did not properly respond to my father's health concerns. Dr Ayer treated my father for indigestion when in fact my father had an aggressively developing tumor in his liver. My father died of liver cancer as a long-time patient of Dr Gopi Ayer.
