I was in the hospital for an angiogram when it was discovered that I had a blocked artery. Dr. Yankey was called in and operated within a few hours of the discovery. He performed a double bypass with NO complications. I have improved steadily since the surgery and have returned to my old self. I believe him to be a gifted and skilled surgeon and I consider myself to be fortunate that he performed the surgery.

First Post Surgery check up
Being a retired EMS air ambulance pilot, I have seen and met many physicians in my career. When I experienced a life threatening cardiac event, including two heart attacks and a mitro valve failure, Dr. Yankey and his surgical team SAVED MY LIFE!!! They have been very attentive post surgery as well. In my opinion there is no finer Cardiac Surgery.

I needed a triple bypass and ablation (maze) surgery. Dr Yankey was recommended by my cardiologist. It wasn’t an emergency but needed to be done rather quickly. Dr Yankey made time to meet with us at his office. He explained the procedure and answered our questions with patience and confidence. He also answered questions from our children who were listening via mobile phones. He was easy to talk to and I felt I was in good hands. I was concerned that the surgery was on Friday and that there would be another doctor on call for the weekend, but he assured me he would check on me even though it wasn’t his on call weekend. Saturday morning he did see me in CICU and oversaw the removal of the breathing tube.

Dr. Yankey and Dr. Hurtado were amazing throughout my husbands emergency open heart surgery. They explained the procedure to my family and answered our many questions. I could tell they cared about us and wanted us to know they were doing everything they could to help my husband. Dr. Hurtado came to the waiting room and sat with us - explaining more about the surgery and making us feel confident in he and Dr. Yankey. The staff at St. Agnes ( from doctors and nurses to security guards) were so helpful. The security guard even brought me 2 warm blankets while I was waiting during the surgery! I will be forever grateful for them all. We had 2 follow-up visits with Dr. Hurtado - he continued to answer our many questions with patience and caring! The staff at Dr. Yankey's office are so friendly! They told us to call anytime if we have more questions ( and I can tell they mean it)!

My heart situation was somewhat of an emergency and Dr Yankey brought my wife and I assurance that all would go well, and things did go very well. While going through all the steps of checking in at the hospital one staff member after the next told me Dr Yankey was the best surgeon on staff at St Agnes. And on the backside of this whole process I totally agree. Even my surgical scar looks as if an artist took a lot of interest in the final outcome. I couldn’t be more pleased. Dr Yankey is very deserving of a five star review and more.

I was a patient of Dr. Yankey when he practiced in Quincy, IL. in 2012 & 2013. In my opinion, I couldn't have had a better doctor. He literally saved my life with a triple by-pass. He really cares about his patients and will do whatever he can to make sure they heal properly. Very good bed side manner and a great, compassionate doctor!
