Dr. Glynnis Zieman, MD

Dr Z is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, she obviously cares deeply about her patients and explains things in a way that is easy to understand and it was a breathe or fresh air to see someone who was very thorough, and she always answers all our questions (I accompany my girlfriend to all her appointments, she has a TBI and needs assistance ) and we were relieved to have found after seeing several people we were unhappy with. I can’t say enough good things about Dr Z.

Intern briefly examined me, & frequently alluded to some idea that my mTBI symptoms were psychological in nature. Despite multiple symptoms which prevented me from returning to work, he only allowed me to name one, which he then conveyed to Dr. Z. When she entered, she sat on exam table and never once touched or examined me in any way. Instead, she merely gave me the Wikipedia definition of mildTBI, and then INSISTED that ABSOLUTELY ALL TBI's are better in 3 months, and if they're not, then "We have no idea why." After stating that I had multiple concerning/disabling symptoms 6 months post injury, she reasserted her claim. When asked to fill out my SSDI forms, she replied she NEVER fills out forms on 1st visit. Asked when I may see her again, she replied I won't, since I was going to OT. Only allowed to ask one question, then she left exam. She's supposedly a brain injury expert. Not this time. EXTREMELY dismissive. I was later correctly diagnosed & treated by a non-Barrow neurologist.

She is very pleasant but I doubt if she is aware of patients need 1. She is the worst communicator for a follow up. 2. Her staff may contribute for the problem but whose fault is it that they act that way? 3. The patient coordinators are the worst, which may add up to the problem. My experience with the whole Barrow institution was disappointment. From my encounter I would not recommend Barrow to anyone.. I felt that I was there just to fulfill the residence students need.

She was very knowledgeable and caring. Described in detail the various areas that can affect patients suffering from traumatic brain injury. Told us what to expect and what she is looking for.
