Rushed
This doctor was extremely rushed, and I did not feel she adequately explained her recommendations or listened to my questions. She also dictated notes into a microphone, staring at a computer screen, at the same time she was talking to me!! Very inconsiderate. I’ve never had a doctor do this before. Typically doctors dictate notes following, not during, a visit. Made me feel like just a name and a number.

I moved out of state, so sadly, I'm no longer a patient of Dr. Patel's, but I can't say enough good things about her professionalism, knowledge & care. Dr. Patel is a "rough, tough, cream puff." She's intense. She tells it like it is, but she's also kind & caring. I absolutely adored her. Yes, she's quick, but if you have questions, she immediately switches gears, sits with you, and makes sure all of your concerns are discussed. But if you're hesitant to speak up, Dr. Patel is not for you.

Some points I experienced during my wife's treatment under Dr. Patel 's supervision. No treatment plan was explained or even touched. Aspects like diet and physical status was neglected. Evaluation of treatment progress {scans and specific tests) were not assessed properly or in the proper timing. Side effect that may rarely happened from targeted therapy was not explained before the fact and it was too late to treat it. Symptoms that clearly obvious like excessive weight loss, were not fixed.

I have seen her 3 times and each time I do I ask myself why didn't I change Ocologists. She rushes me through each appt. she is arrogant and seems to get irritated if I ask a question. She said I should get a 2nd opinion from an oncologist at UCLA. I did and was so glad he was fantastic and knew what he was talking about. He was a great listener and could pick up on my concerns just by my facial expressions. I over heard another patient complaining about Dr Patel in the elevator.

Dr. Patel is the most thorough doctor I've ever met. She goes to bat for her patient, even with the insurance companies. She listens and uplifts!

My fiance was treated by Dr. Patel for both colon cancer, and finally for pancreatic cancer, over the course of several years. Throughout that time, we were both impressed with Dr, Patel's knowledge and professionalism, and mostly her candor. Although my fianc? ultimately lost her battle, a little over two months ago, I have and will continue to recommend and refer patients to this highly skilled physician.
